  1. hi, thanks for the input, ive had it cheked over, its the cam chain tensioner that is rattling against the chain. many thanks, kim
  2. hi, unfortunaitly, i have purchased a kwak. ive just run it home (helston, cornwall) from Llandrindod wells in wales (300 miles) on the run, i heard no abnormal noises. when i got home, it was run arround (priety aggressivly i might say ) and once again i heard no problems. when i got home, no abnormal noises. ive left it to cool down for 1 hour, and ive just started it up (because i love the fact that ive now got a 500, instead of 125, and i love the noise) and to my horror, i hear a mild to loud tapping noise from the cylender head at arround 1500 rpm above and below that rpm, the noise goes, but im very tentative to take her out again, seen as my SR's first engine died due to a incorrectly seated valve that was worn and droped in to the cylender. that made a similar sound, and im hoping that its not that again, as it is not only terminal on my new bike (got today, 25th nov) but costs alot to fix too can anybode please tell me that i shouldnt bee afraid and that it will all be better tomorow? or atleast let me know what it could be. many thanks. Kim smith

    Hello!

a 125 is ideal for a new rider, the XT is a good bike for what it is, and they can shift in circumstances. enjoy riding, and welcome
  13. pardon my asking, but you said that you were learning to ride it, how long have you been riding, and would you think an R6 is/was a sensible choice for a begginner, that is if you are. moral nagging asside, nice total, and hope ur all in one piece. go for the re-build, get a new frame and get the engine sorted. manny a run-in engine on Ebay, if your in need of one. good luck with it. 15. im gonna buy a GPZ 500s for arround £550. it needs a restricting kit in it though, but ill have to save up for that - £240 fitted, for 2 washers! its a scam i tells ya! A SCAM!!!! anyway, itl be a month or so till it gets restricted, but in the mean time, a littel green-laning may be in order. lol oh, ANGEL ASSIST will be providing me with a temporary bike too, whilst mine os off the road, on the other guys insurance. and hopefuly, the police will press charges - Hit and Run. all smiles , in a wierd sortta way
  16. im currently looking at a GPZ500S 1989 model. £600, and same for fully comp insurance but ill need a restrictor kit in it though annother £250. all because im under 21. oh well.
  17. i have been absent for a while from this forum, but in the mean time, i have been restoring a Vintage SR125 (1982), which has also ben my sole means of transport. last night, some pollock reversed in to it causing a not cheap amount of damage. bearing in mind that i have spent in excess of £900 getting it up to an almost compleate stage (just neding a fuel tank re-spray, an exhaust and a left hand side panel) this guy reverses in to it and causes this damage: A smashed head lamp fixing, bent brackets, snapped mud guard, break lever snapped off, break pedal bent in to engine casing, forks bent, bearing set/ yolk bit that connects to the frame is damaged.in all, i require a new front end, so about £4-500 more. as a result, it is gonna be an economical write-off but, i will be getting a bigger bike sonner though, so there is a mild silver llining to the dark cloud.
