  1. Check where the wires come from out of the magneto casing, sometimes they rub and chafe against the casing, and now and again you can get a broken wire inside the wrapping, something that's happened to me in the past, took a bloody age to find it too.
  2. I'd go back and recheck all the block connectors (sometimes a pin can pop out when connecting together), the orange wire from the CDI to coil, all wires from the magneto, check the contacts, give them a clean up if needs be, you can bet yer sweet bippy it's something stupidly simple, seeing as it all worked before you put the Athena top end on. Oh aye spark plug cap is it nice and clean inside? and maybe try a new spark plug too. Also check sidestand is up and kill switch is off, you'd be surprised how many people are caught out by those two.
  3. If I remember rightly, the DT125X forks are shorter than the standard DT125R ones.
  4. Check the owners manual mate, I'd put diamonds on it that the answer on how to set the digital clocks up is in there, the "endr" from what I've read about is for the 'R' or the 21" front and 18" rear wheel Enduro set up, as opposed to the 'X' or Supermoto 18"/17" front, 18"/17" rear set up.

I'm just hoping 'Getmytitsoutforthelads' hurries up and replies.
  6. There's a decent free smart phone app called IOMTT, gives some pretty useful info on the course, campsites, rider results, etc
  7. Replace with 15w oil, that will make them much stiffer
  8. You could hope the bits of ring are in the exhaust Ken but I very much doubt it, plus I have a bolt for the head if it will help you out, pm me
  9. Have a read of this Ahay, a lad supposedly in the know put this on the DTR forum, regarding the Athena 170 kit. "You can use a WR200/DT200 base gasket, The head gasket has to be from Athena. You can use a DT200 head from Yamaha on the Athena cylinder kit then use the DT200 head gasket also. There is one huge reason the Athena kit doesn't make good power. The port timing is completely wrong. The ports are 3mm lower than they should be and are partially blocked by the piston a BDC. The cylinder needs a 3mm spacer to get the port timing in line. Then 3mm+ needs to be machined off the top of the cylinder to get the squish correct."
  10. Remember Foamy to be a bona fide café racer it must do over the 100mph mark.
  11. Good luck to these two lads, hope they raise a fair few bob for their charities. http://www.c90club.co.uk/viewmap.php

    Diesel Superdream

Yes, but will it run on cooking oil? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Diesel-Superdream-400-/300906182250?pt=UK_Motorcycles&hash=item460f67f66a
  13. Thanks Calum, looking at how you've done such a top job on your bike, you should be really proud of what you've achieved.
  14. If you have a few deep notches in the fingers of the clutch basket, then it's showing signs of wear, you may also need to check the cog at the rear of the basket, grab the basket firmly, then try and twist the cog at the rear, if you get more than 3mm play when trying to twist the cog, you may need to replace the basket
  15. I used a marine 12v cigarette lighter/ charger type, handlebar mountable too, all rubber covered with a rubber flap/cap, about £10, as for the USB, iphone do an adapter for USB you can pick up cheap off Ebay.
  16. Cheers Noise, aye the 89 DT's actually had a pink seat and pink shock, not really for me that, as for a garage I've got a 20 x 10 man den, but that's cluttered with bikes and stuff, and working in the kitchen, that would get me deaf and dumb sandwiches for a fortnight that would.
  17. Did a bit more on the bike yesterday, all the bits and bobs are back from powdercoating now, so I thought I'd start adding more stuff to the bike. The weathers been bloody awful here, windy as fook and showers every half hour, but slowly starting to get empty parts boxes, main mission this week is to get the engine started I reckon. Sprayed up the forks last week, am happy with the Red and Graphite Grey metallic, I think I'll definately do the wheels a bit darker and make them Graphite Grey too. Got recovered seat back from the upholsterer, he's done a top job as usual, I usually buy a cover from Philippe in Portugal, and he fits it, but this time he used his own Red vinyl seat covering, and did the Grey 'YAMAHA' cut out for me, he's even added me a strap, that I never even asked him for, well chuffed.
  18. Blue tack in the spark plug cap will make it look ok, but won't run.
  19. Aye Drewps, I reckon you'd be liking some of the bands that get on the stage too, mind you there's always next year, get a few of you to come down, make a weekend of it.
  20. Just read the update to this post, thought I'd put it up on here too, so you could have a chuckle too, "well update , they tested my oil and it was fine, crescent motorcycles said my bike was fine as well, and today I received a cheque from Castrol for £168 , 68 for the costs like postage and new oil from crescents and 100 for my inconvenience , in all fairness Castrol have been really good, they arranged the RAC to collect my bike and paid for everything without any probs." Bloody good result I'd say!
  21. Anybody going to the BMAD bike festival that's on at Paignton this weekend? Starts tonight (Friday 3rd May) and finishes on Monday, there's usually a big turnout of bikes, with plenty of stuff going on till late. http://www.bmad.co.uk/festival.html
  22. Not sure how the 28mm Mikuni will cope with a 170 barrel, you may also have to go for a bigger carb, I'm running a 32mm Flatslide Mikuni on my Black bike, which has a 2.5mm oversize piston, and that takes the bike to 135cc and the Hybrid is now around 147cc after putting in a 4mm oversized piston in it, and that has a 38mm Keihin on it, Not sure until the bike starts up, whether or not that's too big, but would have thought the minimum would need to be a 32mm size carb.
  23. Be careful with the 170 Athena kit, it's not just a case of bolting it all on, it has to be played around with and tickled up a fair bit to match up with your bottom end, if you go on the DTR forum, http://dt125r.activeboard.com/ There's some info on there regarding the kits.
