    fzr600 advice

I have just the bike your after 1989 3HE twin headlight , great bikes for the money , an FZR will not handle like a R6, but cheap classic insurance , you can pick them up on ebay for £500-£600 but you would be better looking at a few more £s and getting a really good one , I picked mine up 3yrs ago ,full service history , 31K , and it never fails me, trouble is I dont ride it enough more into 2 strokes than 4 , get a test ride before , cane it in second and see if it jumps out of gear , this is the week spot on old gennys, oh and the plastics go rock hard and brittle so check em best colour is the one I have red white

  16. Nice Vid dirty, I thought you were going to ride through the rain at first but then it came back , noticed that when you hit traffic some drivers were aware of you and even pulled slightly left , other well they didnt have a clue!
  17. Taylon, good link here on the FZR , upgrades, info ,etc http://www.fzronline.com/
  18. I would say its carbs/ fuel related , best thing to do is pull the carbs off and strip them fully down and get the correct jets in both ,then you know that issue is sorted
  19. Hi and welcome Taylon, common fault on the FZR and thundercat unfortunatley,if its been spanked in second you could try an fresh oil change and see if it changes anything , but to me it's an engine out job, it may be quicker to get a secondhand engine? unless your prepared to strip it down. Did you not take it for a test ride before you bought it depending what you paid , it maybe best to go back to the seller, if he told you its was 100% it obviousley wasnt , great bike though the FZR

    fuel tap leak

Hi guys Does anyone know if I can put a new fuel tap repair kit in situ , Its leaking form the face plate, on my FZR600, if you wiggle the fuel lever it pours out, dont really want to take the tank cover , petrol tank, plus fairing etc, needs a Mot at the end of the month and its a straight fail Cheers Al
  21. I have learnt my lesson , brim it, if its only half full you have half a tank of air , the ethanol absorbs moisture hence the gel like gunge, if its full (no air) you have less circumference of the air to be absorb in by the ethanol oooh and a little bit of preserver and drain your carbs, battery off and in a warmer place if it going to freeze outside, I normally stick all my batterys in the cellar there a radiator down there so it ok and then switch the optimate on between them well thats my thoughts, but I am sure some will disagree.

    ethanol gloop

sorry guys I have been working away for a couple of weeks so not had time to reply, yep it has a ethanol proof lining well suppossed to be the last lot of petrol I put in was some shell super unleaded, I can oly think of two things 1, the super unleaded has a higher octane level, and its reacting with the por 15 lining or as it more ethenol 2, the fuel at the petrol station as been cross contaminated in the tanks , and with the cost of the petrol and people not buying super unleaded it as sat in there tanks for a while 3 the super unleaded fuel in their tanks was low , and I have filled up using all their dregs ethanol absorbs/ pulls moisture from the air , it then reacts with the petrol then sinks to the bottom of the tank , I have bought some stabiliser and will brim the tank or drain whats left from now on before putting it away for the year just dont leave any tanks half empty / full
