  1. Hi folks, Hope someone heere can help point me in the reight direction. My bike has started to get quite hesitant at times, misfiring and such. I've checked my plugs and ignition coils they all check out ok, recent new jets in the carb and full carb service carried out, problem continued before and after this also. The fault was more intermittent at the start but now has become less so. Havign a read around people seem to suggest it might be a faulty TPS or fuel pump, can anyone advise on how to diagnose either of these. The fuel pump does seem quite noisey so this might be a hint. If it does turn out to be the TPS, can anyone advise where to get one from and if it is easy enough for a competent DIY mechanic to replace? Cheers
  2. Can anyone advise me on good replacement ignition coil(s) for my t'cat? I'm wondering if there is some alternative to buying yamaha branded replacements. Cheers
  3. Hi folks, looking for some ideas about what's doing with ym bike. Recently had my carbs balanced at a local garage, all was fine for a day or so of riding. Today when I started it is was misfiring occasionally at idle, this seems to go away at higher ravs but makes it sometimes hesitatnt pullign away. Also noticed the tachometer seems to be pulsing fairly regularly at idle on maybe 100-200 RPM but enough that you can see. Any ideas would be much appreciated. The bike didnt do this before I had the carbs balanced. Cheers
  4. So your valve clearences checked out OK? What mileage is your bike? To top all this I think my original downpipes have given up, bike is more noisey than usual, sounds like exhaust, have stainless micron can so I'm going with downpipes, will investigate and report.
  5. Do we know what the temp guage should rise to on a normal ride? Mine lifts a bit off the bottom but not much.
  6. I thought being water cooled the bike didnt have an oil cooler?
  7. It can wait until I have the VN800 taxed then I have plenty of time!
  8. OK, having never taken the carbs off this bike, how long of a job is it likely to be? Cheers
  9. OK, so Allens got back to me and asked me for part numbers of the jets and needles. How easy/difficult is it going to be to get this information? Are the jets and needles a standard fittment for bike and year? If so can anyone point me in the right direction for the info I need to give to Allens. This is the info they requested: "If you could advise the codes from the needles (located around the top, where the e-clip fits) and also the needles jets (3 digit number, then a letter then a number)" Cheers
  10. No worries, I'm doing some reasearch and I'll let you know if I find anything. I've not got time or money to address this issue right away.
  11. Let me know if you find a good deal on jet kit for the bike, I'd be interested to know. cheers
  12. Temp gauge barely moves on it. Would you expect worn jets on a bike with 20k on the clock? Valve clearances easy enough to check? Cheers
  13. Hi folks, looking for some ideas on what the problem might be with my thundercat. The problem is intermittent and shows itself several ways, or perhaps there is more than one problem. Firstly after a steady cruise at 80mph on the motorway, when I come off the motorway the engine seems to stutter and give less output. Also there is a situation when idling that the revs seem to go up about 1000rpm and then sometimes settles again, this happens with the throttle fully closed. Looking forward to hearing peoples theories. Cheers
  14. No I do not pay someone to do that pads, that is the range of cost for pads for my 1996 YZF600R Thundercat. I tend to ride hard and like to stop quickly! I ride in all weathers.
