  1. hi all , after buying a xt125r and being a bit disapointed with the general performance , ok so 125s are low on power but this felt strangled to death !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so when up at sheffield motorcycle centre i saw a full arrow exhaust system for £220.00 i thaught why not , had it fitted so as not to effect waranty , bike was better but only marginally , anyway after talking to steve the service manager it was decided to renew carb under waranty as it was very hard to start from new and tickover was very irratic and it was definatly a bad carb , it was also dyno tested and rejeted from 105 to 110 jet, well what a difference , revs to the moon and now goes very very well , ok its still only a 125 but i now have all the power in the little engine and it gets to 65 mph very quickly [for a 125] hope this could help anyone else with this type of machine .ps it sounds great to !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. hi all , i have an xt125r baught new in 2009 , on three quaters to full throtle this bike has had detonation from new , i have only done 1400 miles on it but was wondering what damage this could have done ! at first i thaught it was the carateristics of the engine , then i thaught it was the restrictive exhaust and air clean up system on the exhaust . i had fitted at the dealers a new arrow exhaust system and when the problem was still the same i new it was pinking due to a lean mixture at over half to full throtle , it is at the dealers now and suspect that a larger main jet is going to be fitted to repair this problem , its stupid how engines have to be leaned off so much with older designed engines that are not made to run like this . i will let you know how i get on . ps. anyone else had this problem on any other carborettor yamaha bike !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. hi MalcolmX , yes it comes road legal with a circlip that you can remove and take out a baffle to make it more noisyer , i am looking for a K&N filter as well , its being fitted at dealers where i baught exhaust from as bike is still under warranty . i will post a thread and let people know how i get on with it .
  4. hi all , got chance of a full arrow exhaust system for my light-waight xt125r , has anyone fitted one with good results ? i have the chance of one for £220.00 full system with removevable baffles . thanks for any posetive input .
  5. hi all , just wondered if anyone had fitted the full arrow exhaust syslem to an xt 125r . this is my light-wait bike and for what it is goes ok , but i think a full freer flowing exhaust will give a little more go , i have the chance of buying one for £220.00 full system road legal with removevable baffles . thanks for any posetive input .
  6. hi emdottee , thanks for responding i was begining to think that nobody new how to do this ! thanks for the information , the reason i wanted to know is because i had to have the electronic combination speedo changed under waranty and this was after the first service so the unit is on count down for first service again , i think when it comes up i will not reset it and just have it reset after its next main service in may 2010 , thanks again for your help .

hi all ,i have already posed this question but had no responce , how do you reset the oil service indicator on an XT125R and a XT125X [both electronic speedometers are the same]what happens is after 3500 miles an indication comes on the electronic speedo/rev counter etc unit [it flashes SERVICE OIL CHECK] after you have changed the oil there is a procedurs to reset the unit to start the count down to the next oil inspection , there is a prompt button to change the display and you use this to reset the unit , anyone who does there own service on this type of machine would know how to do this [ skint and need to do my own servicing!!!!!!!!]. thanks
  8. anyone know how to reset oil inspect/change oil on an XT125R 2009 bike [same unit is on xt125x] , it counts milage down to warn you the oil is ready for changing and flashes on and off when you turn on the ignition , after you have changed the oil it needs resetting so it can start the count down to the next oil change .
  9. hi all i have an xt 125 r 2009 bike , i had a problem with the speedo/rev counter unit and it was changed under warranty , it has an oil inspect electronic timer in it that counts the milage to the next oil change . i wondered if anyone new how to reset it ready for the next oil change , when it has counted the milage down from 4000 miles it flashes on and off to tell you to change the oil and then you reset it ready for the next oil change , in the hand book there is no information on how to do it and the yamaha machanic where i baught the bike from wont tell me how to do it .
  10. yamaha recommend YAMALUBE 20/50 for xt125r and that is the same engine [ but not F/I ] hope this helps .
  11. hi ratboy , the problem with low power machiens like these is to be realistic as to their performance , wind resistance is your biggest problem , a low profile riding position will help , but on the flat with the engine not to stressed 60 MPH should keep you up with the cars , 70 MPH is down hill only , thats if the engine holds together !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. hi everyone , this is my first topic on this site , i have baught a xt 125 r 2009 brand new bike and i like it very much , very light and for a 125 performs ok , i have had to take it back with problems to the back brake making noises and sticking on !!!!!!!!!! and the time of day electronic clock running slow !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it is in the workshop now for checks/repairs , question , has anybody else had these problems . regards lollypop .
  13. is 50 MPH the cruising speed and is the bike not reving to much , what revs do you get at 50 MPH ?
  14. hi everyone , just joined , buying a XT125R , am getting it on friday , could anyone who has owned this type of machine tell me what to expect in the way of performance . does this type of bike get away from cars at the lights so that you can keep out of trouble , will it perform on hills and in windy conditions , what is its comfortable cruising speed . i have got to run it in for 600 miles before i can use the perfomanse . thanks for any help on this matter .
