  1. I am glad you got it sorted insurance should be cancelled as soon as you don't have the vehicle. There were some horror story's going around a while ago about ex owners, who hadn't cancelled the insurance for a vehicle they had sold, being liable for the excess on a crashed vehicle because they were still insuring it. What gets me is when I re insured the FZ, swintons (previous insurers) said that without me telling them I don't want to renew with them they would have automatically reinsured the bike. Another is the credit searches that the compare sites do - even if you want to pay in one go or at renewal time and you haven't asked for a compare quote again!
  2. I don't have a clue but a lottery number generator is always a bonus.
  3. Don't forget to let us know what went on Noise. My next insurance renewal depends on it.

    Mt07 or hornet?

V twins deliver power in a different way. I looked at XJ's but ended up buying a FZ8. Naked, no ABS. As you say.. You pay your money.
  5. It looks better than my TS250 when I started to fix it. Great bikes!

    Mt07 or hornet?

Ideally Vtwin naked for me. The only thing I dislike about the XJ is the cheap swing arm. That is what put me off buying one.
  7. I am a Londoner living in sunny Loughborough. I have a couple of RD400's somewhere about the house. As for the reg from a VIN - there was a guy - nothing to do with this site - who used to do it. I used him a couple of times. I have his old email and I will PM it to you although I can't guarantee he can still do it.
  8. I don't have an answer but look forward to what it is. The FZ is with them now, as are one RD and the TS. The RD & TS are up for renewal in a few months.
  9. I have to agree with Drewps on this. The tyre is at the top end of the rim range but the tyre shape will be different. Drewps is out XS expert.
  10. Hi and welcome to the forum. I to have some air cooled RD projects and live in Leicestershire.
  11. Throwovers or a waterproof stuffa bag are the best bet. If I was doing it I would post clothes to my mum and ride without any paniers. Alternatively go to Primark when you get there and buy some stuff for £3 each.
  12. Yes and no. I have a 1965 YA-6 Santa Barbara. The crank parts are not hard to find LINKY Type the part numbers into fleabay and some bargains will come up. $1000 sounds a lot but you have 2 of most things so double the cost. I think another thing is the support for smaller, older, 2 strokes your side of the pond. In the UK there are many specialists who would work on this however, in the US small 2 stroke bikes appear to be of limited value. UK crank rebuild prices can be seen here LINKY It may be worth emailing them and asking for a full rebuild price as it may work out cheaper - espesially if you can source and send the parts for the rebuild.
  13. You couldn't drop past me this morning with a bacon and black pudding sandwich, could you? I am starving!
  14. Hi and welcome to the forum. I am fine and dandy, thank you!
  15. What's the standard spec sized tyre? A 4.00 will be about the same width as a 100 but because the 100 has a 90 profile the 4.00 may have a bigger tyre wall. 4.00 means 4 inches across and probably a 4 inch tyre wall. 100/90 means 100mm across and 90% of the 100mm tyre wall. Imperial and metric tyres are measured at different parts of the tyre so it is not as straight forward as it seems.
  16. I disagree with using easy start. Yes it will start almost anything but that doesn't sort out the issue. I would take the plugs out and leave out overnight. Pour a teaspoon of engine oil into each plug hole and rock the bike back and forth, in gear, to get the Pistons moving up and down to circulate the oil on the bores. I would recheck both inlet and exhaust valve gaps. Then a teaspoon of petrol into each bore, plugs back in and caps on and with choke on but no throttle try and start it.
  17. There's a lot that can be done for erectile disfunction nowadays.
  18. Looks like it has 1970's slowmoitis.

  20. I thought that was for Jason.
  21. All members can post pictures in threads. It may be that it is not in the correct format. They may need to be picture files so; JPG etc.
  22. No worries Andrew, but thanks.
  23. "Superb camping ..... Facilities" I guess that depends on their definition of "superb"! It wouldn't be the same as mine though! For me, the people make this event what it is and it deserves a little more input from the venue. I won't be going this year, I have something else on.
  24. Most modem connectors are available but even with a wiring diagram, the length of each cable, and the connector layouts where they meet existing wiring, will be crucial.
