  1. oh yes man i sure have i got the spark and the air and the fuel and now the b!tch runs so im going to be getting my license and it registered this next week hopefully i will get the permit for a few weeks so i can test if im truly going to like riding this bike and everything but im painting it currently i will have to set up ad video on youtube for all here to see and post it in a topic also upload some pictures from my 3.1 camera and then shoot them off to the website im kind of going for a streetfighter look i don't like all the plastic farings all over the place so i took of the engine cover ones on both sides of the bike. I am so excited to finally have this guy damn near done. just cant wait im going to try and ride this thing like every day. how hard would you say it is to pass the written, and the driving test on a bike. similar to the first driving test in a car or much worse. anyways before thursday next week i need to get a 3 trip permit and my tire install on the damn bike cause my current one aint holding air worth sh!t I even put a bottle of that fix a flat gunk in and that really didnt help much at all. i wish i could mount my tire myself here at home so i could get that done before thurday and take it for a spine. oh also i got most of my riding gear given too me brand new from a buddy, and they say nothing in life is free. I beg to differ... LOL anyhow thanks for the reply have a good one. Brandon
  2. okay so most of you may not remember me what with all the fly by night new members coming on to just figure out something and leave. I bought my 1986 yamaha fz 600 about a month or two ago from this buddy of mine. and it wasnt running at all when he gave it to me and then after about a week i got crank and for the next like 3 weeks i work on the electrical system getting things like the light wired up correctly and that type of stuff. I am pleased to say after much toils and labo r and pain i was able to get the spark on port 4 {i havent checked the others yet} but im sure they work fine too. I would have to say that i mostly owe all my success to gareth or as you all may know him oldfz he told me exactly what i needed to do to get the bike up and going and it was as simply as cutting a wire on the bike and boom i saw a little blue spark on my brand new ngks im so excited now is to get some combustion and get the from tire fixed and clean up my wiring mess and get it all tucked back into the bike properly. then paint and licensing. I want to thank all of you who responded to my earlier post and gave me the needed insight to get the job done. again thanks so much. Brandon a.k.a Brandaha.
  3. Hey guys its brandon again, I am just wanting to stop in and update where im at. I haven't made a whole lot of progress. but what i have found is the wiring is all chopped up on my bike and it pisses me off to no end when fools get a bike and just destroy it when they are doing so called fixing it. I mean im not really a mechanic or anything but so much of machanictry is to do with common sense and taking your time and diagraming I can't understand as to why it would be so hard to no destroy a bike when you need some fixing done. oh well anyways the bike still wont spark I am getting the engine to crack over and the gears work so idk I know the cdi and the starter motor and the throttle control are all good its most of the wiring and possible the coils that will cause the bike to not run. for instense the freaking tail light stays on 24-7 when the bike is running it really won't go off so if it were running and i were to ride it at this point people would think that i was an idiot that was riding my breaks. oh well anyways someone please help the summers almost here and i didnt buy a bike to just let it sit in my garage for ever I really wanna be on the road going places. thanks for listening to my rambles Brandaha
  4. thanks jim i will get right on that i thought about both those parts and also these other the starter relay and the ignition coil cause the bike doesn't seem to have spark. also please elaborate on what a side stand relay does I have been looking all over for that info no such luck all i find is a bunch of guys asking for a way to bypass it. I really appreciate you tunning into my post man thanks a bunch Brandon
  5. Hi jim thanks for the help I believe it is the air cooled FZ 600 when the bike was layed down it was missing a few pieces like the electric starter and kill switch pod and the accelorator is screwed too. other than that it all seems okay i will be needing a new battery. but when last guy had it hooked up to a battery it would turn over but not get spark im told. again thanks for all you help. Brandon
  6. Washington state by the way i bought the bike oh my goodness is that thing my dream nevermind that it aint quite running i hope to fix that soon but i already love it and i have had it for oh about 2:45 . I just wanna ride it.
  7. I have an old 1988 fz 600 cc bike that i just picked up tonight. to the tune of $350.00 USD I am hugely excited for what the future hold for me and my bike hopefully not a lot of heartache...please God. but yest its red white and black i believe. clock reads 5996 or something like that. I have posted a help add earlier and no one responded to it i wished that people would be cause seeing as how this is my first bike that i have ever owned i want it to be a good one that will last me a while one that i won't grow out of or give up on. I not one of those posers who goes out and get the fancy expensive riding gear and all that and a new bike. 1 I can't afford all that plus its about the passion and the freedom and i have always wanted a bike since i was little now I'm old enough that I wont have mum and dad getting in the way for fear of my safety even though i worry about it myself i know that I'm going to be sensable about riding and try to remain safe im going to take the course well if my work schedule will afford me the time off to set the classes up. anyhow. I have stayed up very late for the last 3 weeks searching craigslist for a suitably priced bike and last night one jumped out at my. I imediately shot off a email to the guy by morning and through out the night i was obsessing I don't think i got to many hours of full sleep last night. I woke up got read for work and gave the guy a call on my way out turns out although i haven't ever really been all that lucky in my life The Big Guy had my back on this one he answers and say yeh.. I go well my names Brandon do you have the bike still... Uh yeh (mean while i think he was thinking i was going to give him a big shpeal about how i would like the bike and wanted him to take payments) no no no not me well in that case can i call you when i get off or when I get my check tomorrow. (tomorrow being an hour from now us pacific time) he was like yeah long story short everyone i told about it was giving the "YOU DON'T NEED A MOTORCYCLE" speech and i wasn't trying to hear it like i said before this has been my dream and in my book real men don't give up on their dreams they buckle up and go for the ride. anyhow tonight after all said an done i got the bike in my garage downstairs and i don't think i will be able to focus tomorrow for i will be stuck thinking about mods and getting my lovely bike up and running. I sat on the bike and for those few minutes it felt like (i know this may sound cheesy but) "I and the bike were one" dream have way completed only now the fun part rebuild the bike on a shoe string budget and get it running in a few weeks.....uh I think i just crapped myself cause that sounds like a hell of a job to me. here the thing I was thinking a few of you guys could possibly help me out along the way with my project for the love of motorcycling please please please with sugar on top gimme some feedback I would so greatly appreciate it, its not even funny. so far i have replaced the magneto coil, the cdi and thats it the I have taken that electrical meter and do that probing test. it all came back as expected I know i will need a new battery going to sorce that tomorrow. where should I go from there oh yeh and did a compression test. so i know I have been a little long winded but I would love it if you guys could gimme any pointers at all. thanks for listening Brandon
  8. hey all i am new my name is brandon. will be buying my fz600 i think either tonight or tomorrow night anyone know why my bike possibly wont start. the cdi was replaces and the magneto coil if im spelling it right. this will be my first real street bike i have had a few quads and some dirties but never a street bike. anyhow i cant really see why else it wouldn't start has anyone else ran into this problem the bike doesn't have too many miles on it like a little over 5000 miles it was babied until the guy who owned it before the guy im buying from layed her down. I was thinking maybe the starter solinoid or something like that why else would the sparks not ignite. any help at all would be greatly appreciated. thanks guys Brandon
  9. HELLO ALL!!! MY NAMES BRANDON AND I AM OF COURSE A NEWB, BUT I NEED HELP. I am going to be buying a 87 or 88 fz 600. its only got 5,000+ miles on it. i know about dirt bike, however this just so happens to be my first street bike. Needless to say i am super excited but i just don't want it to be a money pitt. so heres the deal when i stick the key in i will get cranks and no spark, I was reading last night. and saw another guy had a simular problem. the cdi on my bike was just replaced part bought from ebay. and same with the magneto coil I believe that the name. the other guy said he replaced those same part and got good results so since I already have what the heck should I do next. any help would be greatly appreciated I have a chopper mechanic here in town i just am not ready to get rapped on the service fee's.I would love to get on the road before all my good weather's gone i live in washington and its cold alot but springs sorta here and summer can be short Brandon thanks guys
