  1. Doent say anything about skidmarks
  2. You could ring round motorcycle breakers yards to see if theyve got the handlebar choke bracket. It does fit on the left hand side as you say. I could be wrong, but I always thought the brake disc was on the off side of the bike
  3. Hi mate. If you post this question in the Customs/Cruisers section, I'm sure someone wil be able to advise. Try searching that section for manuals etc, i'm fairly certain that I have seen links for them. I'm not suprised theres a starting problem with the pipes disconnected
  4. but you should still be able to better 60mph. Check to make sure that the drive chain isn't too tight
  5. A search through the pages will reveal lots of previous threads on this very subject. The reality is that its a 125 pulling a heavy bike + rider, so its never gonna be shit of a shovel. Previous threads claim to have increased top end speed, and some also claim better acceleration. At the end of the day its a balance based on your requirements. I dont go much for tinkering with the carb, negligble benefit. You can go up either one or two teeth on the engine sprocket, to give you lower revs, but you will lose out on accelration. Ive settled on one tooth up at the engine sprocket, and thats it. You can also go down in teeth on the rear sprocket along the same lines. Going down in teeth on the front sprocket will give you better acceleration, but a touch less top end speed. Ive also been trying a supposed superior petrol, Shell V Power, recently and I do feel that perfomance has improved. Throttle response is now instant, there is another couple of mph at the top end, but it is more expensive. Youre always gonna be left behind on the motorway on this bike, Pauls advice is spot on. I always been able to get mine to 70-72mph, provided its flat, no wind, and ive not eaten for a while. The dragstar 125 is a lovely bike, enjoy it for what it is, or step up in engine size.
  6. I'm keeping my heating on till he pops his head out. One swallow doesn't make a summer (or spring). Dont chuck your winter woolies away yet

  10. Thanks Rocky/Paul. Only got a broken thumb, sore shoulder, rest was gravel rash. Apolgies for not replying sooner, my 2 posts yesterday dont seem to have made through the ether. Hopefully, this one will Paul W, I checked the bike over and it looks far better than I feared, thanks. Yep tipped over on the left, but engine guard did a great job, not a mark on any chrome or paintwork, front fender trim took the brunt at the front so no damage there either. At the back, the saddlebag saved any damage, and I had that repaired yesterday at the local cobblers. The mirror is shagged, and footrest bent and I cant see any fork/steering misalignments. Going to check all bolts etc tomorrow for security. Gas Up, dead right, dark night/raining, shit, brake, bail, no time for the calculator. Out of pocket no doubt, as I reckon I will replace the scratched fender trim and engine guard cos i was looking to move the bike on and get a Virago 750 sometime in the next few weeks. Any "what to look for "tips on that would be welcome. I dont expect to hear again from the "Community Support Unit" (police)so I expect the culprits will be off scott free and all costs will have to be borne by me However, I will not let anything like this from stop me enjoying what I want to do, or alter my life in any way
  11. Yes mate, you just about right. The bolts go all the way through into nuts. The nuts form pasrt of the fender. When the previous owner fitted the bags, the kit would have included longer bolts to go through the mounts. When you get the bolts off, measure the thickness of the mounts then deduct that from the bolt length, and thats the new length bolts you require. If theyve been on some time, they may take some shifting. Some release oil on the nut side under the fender, let it soak, repeat several times, then try tightening a touch first. Try one way then the other. When you fit the new ones try to buy stainless steel and put a bit of Copaslip on the threads
  12. I dont think I've ever been so angry! Just left work last night around 10.15, dark/drizzling rain/wet road, road bends around to the left, noticed a child on the offside pavement (about 11-12 I reckon) knelt down on one knee looking directly across the road. As I moved around the bend, the nearside pavement come more into view to reveal another youngster on the nearside pavement down on one knee looking across the road at his mate. By now I was around 30 feet away. Eased off (only travelling at around 30 anyway) and applied a touch of brake as not sure what to expect. 20 feet away, both of em pulled hard at the same time as if pulling a rope/cord/line tight across the road in front of me. Shit. Cant go up the kerb as the kid is in the way, if I carry on what have they pulled across in fornt of me, what if it jams the front wheel and I go over the top, what if it cuts across my chest/throat, is there anything there at all? In a millisecond, I decided to bale out and put the bike down, only doing about 20-25 now, slid into the kerb with my helmet, bike carried on further down the road. Knees and hand hurt, got up after around 10 seconds or so, kids gone, not a trace in either direction. As both were wearing T shirts, I reckon they were from one of the houses adjacent. Called 999 for police and medics, no witnesses, they're going back today to talk to one of the locals who came out to me as she reckons she knew the kids. Even if someone owns up, they are minors and get off scot free, I cant claim for damages of em without pursuing a civil action, and I suspect the police wont have much enthusiasm for this sort of "minor" offence as it will be hard to achieve a "positive outcome". Effective use of diminishing resources etc. Got a crime number, informed insurance. Any advice greatly appreciated
  13. I imagine they're already stockpliling, waiting for the price to go up before unloading onto the market, and creating a shortage to drive prices up. What happened to the self sufficiency in oil and gas that we were all sold in the late 60s and early 70s, from our fields in the north sea etc, owned by the nation for the nation, paid for by the nation? Flogged of cheap by our bankrupt governments to our european partners, who have used it all up double quick leaving us at the mercy of the arabs Economise and use less and the price goes up to cover their loss of revenue. Use more and the price goes up to try to force us to use less Rant over
  14. He's just failed, no life saver before he pulled off
  15. Cracking description! Fair weather sailors/hothouse plants etc! Most days my bike has been the only one in the company car park this winter, one night somone scrawled "f-----g twat" in the frost ice on the seat. Cold, yes, but by the time it gets through I'm home anyway, no windows to scrape
  16. if you're keeping the bike, I'd hang onto em. The moment you get rid, the next day you'll want em. S'called Sods's Law.
  17. Busters-Accessories.co.uk HBRR Handlebar Pullback Relocators Currently on special offer at £41 the pair
  18. Then the defining answer is to measure the inside diameter of the risers, using inside calipers+ruler, or inside micrometer, or vernier/digital caliper
  19. The defining answer would be to measure them, outside calipers and ruler/micrometer/vernier caliper
  20. Sheds are delivered flat pack, aren't they Concrete base? Hire a wacker, wack the area down, overlay with cheap slabs, build you own as big as you can get on the base, believe me, you'll fill it
