  1. heard this one in the 1980s when the wendys adverts with the "wheres the beef" lady on tv were popular Jack and Jill, went up the hill To smoke a little leaf, Jack got high, and dropped his fly, And Jill said "wheres the beef?"
  2. after reading the story of peter rabbit, i was remembering something i found online when i first had internet back in '98. i looked for it and found it. here it is for your enjoyment. http://www.turoks.net/Cabana/PoohGoesApeshit.htm
  3. so, the other day i removed my speedometer in order to put a fpam gasket under the thing to keep it from vibrating as much while driving. i had also noticed that the face scfrews were slightly loose and decided i would make a job of tightning them. when i took ogg the speedo and turned it over, a bunch of road grime and oil or water got inbetween the two glass pieces that make up the window face. now i cant figure out how to remove the glass and clean it and also to tighten the face. does anybody know how its done?

  6. well yesterday it pissed a little rain, but not much. this morning it was clear and 42f when i rode to work at 7:30 am. the fireplace sure feels good when i get home though.
  7. i think its really sad that most religions are failing at the underlying lesson that their particular deity was trying to instill within the culture. which was "love each other and respect each others differences" (in a nutshell) many years ago there was another "extreme" religion in society. they were called Jews. some lunatic named Adolph formed a rather large and corrupt group whose goal was world domination and elimination of the Jewish religion. the Jewish culture still flourishes. as does, regrettably, the cult of hate called Nazism. My point here is that in any religious conflict, both sides see themselves as right. they both feel persecuted by the other side in one way or the other. and both seem bent on eradicating the other from the face of the earth. If your God (or a representative thereof) tells you that you shall kill somebody. that it's his will that you do so. that his way is the only way and non believers shall be murdered, well then... perhaps its time to consider a new religion.
  8. the magneto creates electrical current (a/c) by passing magnets attached to the flywheel past a copper coil. that current is then sent to the rectifier diode which converts the a/c into D/c current which is used to run the lights and charge the battery. its also responsible for creating the spark, when used with an ignition coil. yes a dt can run without a battery, but the battery acts as a "soak" to absorb residual current. so if you take out teh battery you will blow all your bulbs. again and again. the headlight runs off of an a/c circuit, and is wired separately. but its also affected by the lack of a battery. whats your situation? why do you want to eliminate the battery?
  9. been slow for me too. past few days been getting errors and etc.

  11. ordered a lot of new parts for my carb this week. wouldnt you know it, right before the package is due to arrive i break my upper throttle cable. the place i ordered from has the replacement kit, but the bottom cable has two listings and only one part. it has a listing for the 175a and the 175b any difference? as they only have one tickbox to order that part. all i need is the upper cable anyhow. because i bought an aftermarket cable splitter tube should i buy both parts? or does anybody know where i can just buy a plain old cable. please help.
  12. could it be, and this is just my opinion mind you, that the double pipe area is there to act as a heat sink/fin to keep the pipe from burning up at the point there where it exits the engine? there are really hot gasses (read flames) exiting continuously right there, a double wall would protect the pipe by allowing it to dissipate the heat it absorbs without doing much to cool the exhaust gasses themselves. just my 2 cents....
  13. i agree speedshop. on my cars i have had alarms before, i had one stolen and all the thief did was yank out the siren part, throw it on the ground and steal my car. i still keep an alarm on the car, but i know its merely a deterrent. not a complete solution to theft. the best thing i can think of for my car was a pitce of steel "T" pipe that slipped over the gas pedal and had a lock that slipped thru 2 holes and secured ti to the pedal. the pipe fit on in such a way that the pedal couldnt be pushed down, and most car thieves are unprepared to try to cut thru a pipe. the lock, was fit in such a manner thru the pipe that it couldnt be got at very easily with a saw. but was pretty easy to unlock. as far as a deterrent for a motorcycle, fit a blinking led onto the bike someplace noticable. then wire that to a wallet battery and hide it someplace on the bike like under the seat. you can also fit a toggle switch someplace to turn it on and off. the light will make some thieves think twice. and wont cost you very much money. that combined with your disklock is about all the security i can imagine. and even then im sorry to say it all depends on how determined the thief is. you should look to see if your area had any program with the police that etches/engraves the serial numbers on your bike. in my town, they have a free program. they etch your vin # on all your windows and issue you 2 stickers. one has a number that traces back to your information, and one fits on the rear window. both are highly reflective and area police are instructed that they are to pull over naybody displaying such stickers if they are on the road after 1 am. and they are to check the sticker number, the license and registration etc. if all goes well and right you are on your way in 5 minutes. if its not you in the car, you are contacted. if thay cant contact you, or you say that they dont have permission, your car is stolen, etc. they go to jail. and you get the car back.

I must agree with Blackhat. PLENTY of dt helpers here. and if you catch them on a tuesday, they should all be done with the DT's and be able to type without the shakes. all joking aside, welcome to the YOC fulmar, hope you have a good time here.
  15. Ok, so it started out as a small idea and grew. I AM NOT much of a poet, but I figured I would share anyway. Hey there, long haired motorbike rider, I've envied you since I was small. Dressed up in your boots and leather, Riding like you sure looked like a ball. Hey there, long haired motorbike rider, It was a beautiful day when you rode by me, The sun was out and your chrome was shining. Made me smile because you looked so free. Hey there, long haired motorbike rider, I saw you on the side of the road. We were both broke down, you got yours running, I had to wait for my car to be towed. Hey there, long haired motorbike rider, Its been 25 years and I'm still wishing. At least I have something to daydream At times when my wife is bitching. Hey there, long haired motorbike rider, I saw you on my way to the store It was so cold the rain was freezing. I don't envy you anymore.
  16. since buying my bike last year and not driving my suburban much anymore. i kinda quit paying attention to gas prices. I know that i can put $1.00 in the tank and go to and from work without a problem. all was going fine until i had been riding for 9 months or so. every evening i would put a dollars worth of fuel in the tank and go to work and back. after about 9 months, i started noticing that i was not getting as far. i would have to switch over to reserve about a block from home. after a few weeks it was 1/2 mile. as time went on i began to worry that my old bike was losing fuel economy. needing a tuneup, or worse. then it dawned on me that my mileage wasnt going down... gas prices had been going up. (duh on me)
  17. cynic: you have always been a dim bulb anyway...
  18. I paid $450.00 for mine. and it had issues when i got it. messed up carb, leaky fuel tank, no ingnition switch, no air cleaner assembly, and many other small issues. according to the odometer, it had 2600 miles. i got the issues all sorted, and now i wouldnt want to part with it. the important question as to its value is: does it run. and how does it sound when its rrunning?
  19. here in the states i think its krylon, that makes a paint specificly for painting onto plastic. its supposed to bond with the plastic molequles.
  20. ok, i weigh about 110 pounds (7-8 stone) and im on an enduro 175 the wind pushes me as if im a tumbleweed. but i have gotten quite used to it. while i used to ride as a kid for a few years, it was never on roads. but as soon as i started riding the roads last year, i noticed that i was almost automatically compensating for wind/gusts and yeah, it makes me lean to one side sometimes. especially when the wind is 40 mph and broadsiding me I always keep my eyes open for visual clues of a coming gust, or that i will be driving into one. I look far ahead, for dust or debris crossing the road, and i watch the trees and plants and things ahead to see how much they are moving/ bending.
  21. btw... this is a motorcycle forum..... WHY DONT WE HAVE ANY MOTORCYCLE RELATED EMOTICONS???!!??
  22. I warned you not to flush while sitting on an airline toilet. but did you listen?... NOOooOOOooo!
  23. on my 1974 dt175 i have the mikuni carb with the round slide. anyhow it has come time for me to buy some parts for it, float gasket, mostly. but i figured as long as i was at it i would finally buy a main jet. my air filter is pretty much one of the cone ones. and when i got the carb it had a lump of lead blocking the jet intake and a regular bolt in the banjo bolt hole. (basically it had a fully clogged main jet.) i removed the lead and fashioned a cap for the opening so as to allow fuel to be able to flow into the main jet intake area. but without a main jet installed, (never had one) it tends to run really rich, even with the throttle needle in the top notch. i want to put in a main jet assy. which jet would be appropriate for a low restriction air intake? I dont want to spend the money on all 3 if i can avoid it, and i dont want to run too lean, or have the same problem i do now. my choices are 150, 160, and 170.
  24. the grill sorta looks like one of those on a swimming pool light....
