  1. hi, i've got a weekend ticket for the bsb showdown in october at brands hatch. does this cover me for friday's practice or just the saturday and sunday?
  2. i am trying to figure out if you guys are talking about my spectacles or my testicles. 'hold them gently in your hand' not sure about the clingfilm bit though.
  3. ok, loads of us wear them but how do you stop yer shades getting scratched when you ain't wearing them. Have tried a soft bag, but the arms scratch the inside of the lenses, have now got a hard case but it's the size of a bleedin' suitcase in my pocket. There has to be an easier way.
  4. omg - you dont have to agree with me.
  5. cheers lads. The two mentioned are both gillets and i seem to get most of the wind on my shoulders so am looking for something with sleeves thar get warm too. Maybe i am just wimping out but i am getting older and thars an excuse i use for lots of things now. I would also like to see one before i decide so i can compare quality etc. Thanx for the replies
  6. hi, has anyone used a biketek bike-it heated inner jacket? any good compared to gerbing? it seems to me the gerbing is more restricted on where it heats. and does anyone know a stockist in either kent or south/south east london? cheers guys
  7. yesterday on my way to work i went into tescos at bromley by bow, london. as i have two or three times a week for the last four years. i do not remove my crash helmet, buy my dinner and leave. yesterday i was asked to remove my crash helmet "for security reasons" not really a problem untill i see, not twenty feet away a person in a haqib. do they have to remove that i ask. no is the reply that is for religious reasons no it is not, i say ,it is her decision to wear that, not a religious obligation. i could get no answer from either the security muppet or the compliance manager as to why a crash helmet is unacceptable but a haqib was ok. so am i assumed to be a criminal because i wear a crash helmet but people of an alternate religion are assumed virtuous?
  8. i run avon roadriders. from watling tyres in chatham kent. (they all over southeast). ride the same as you i think. hell ive got a bike and i am going to enjoy it. anyhow i pay 70 to 75 quid each tyre. just bought a new rear and it was £72. have no complaints bout either the tyre or watling, but you av to take yer own wheel off.
  9. hi y-all. does anyone know what other forks will fit into a 1992 xj900f yokes? the stanchions are 37mm. need to replace mine due to pitting but have found them to be rarer than rocking horse shit. will the forks off an xj600 fit perchance?

  12. hi jim. thanx for the reply.i would never have found that unit, have had a look, it is described as a cdi (capacitor) unit, the xj has a tdi unit (transistor). when i get home, in work at mo, will check if xs400 is cdi or tdi. thanx for the offer but i already have a manual. thanx for the reply m8, might be more help than either of us thinx and the part number is a great help for tracking one down
  13. Hi i have a 1992 xj900f and have covered 39k miles in 13 months with only the expected minor niggles. But now it has me stumped. I started it yesterday and it would only run on 2 cylinders, the right hand coil which runs the tacho isn’t working. The tacho kicked in once and the ignition fuse blew. I replaced the fuse and now it will only run on cylinders 1 and 4. I have disconnected the instrument console + tried – no difference I have isolated the tacho – no difference I have checked the resistance of the pickup coils – ok I have checked primary winding + secondary windings resistance on ignition coils –ok I have swapped the wires to the coils over – no spark on any plugs Have swapped non-working ignition coil with a known good one – sparks on 1+4 only still I have checked the wiring and connectors I have beaten the damn thing to death with a 14lb sledge hammer (not yet but may be the next step) As i see it the only thing left is the tci unit, which on mine is a pattern one. So has anyone got the Yamaha part number for the tci unit on a 1992 xj900f (4bb model)? Is this unit used on any other bike? Has anyone got any ideas or can see something i have overlooked? Thanx in advance for your help this has been a fantastic bike, it now has only 71k miles on it + i have done most of them and would hate to scrap it now.
