  1. The reason i asked is that there is a couple of extra pipes coming off the engine that i took as being breather pipes that are not on my engine. As for the vibrations i wondered if maybe the UJ on the drive shaft or even from the gearbox, the 5th gear finally giving up the ghost perhaps
  2. I'll be buggered if i know, but the cats at work the mouse will play so i just might go and play down in the MFN
  3. Whether right or wrong i recently acquired another engine for my 650 draggy, i have no history or any knowledge about the running condition of said engine, having looked at it though i would have to say that it has been removed from an American import, so 1 of my questions is can i convert it from American spec to the british spec? Another question is what other than road surface can cause my old draggy to vibrate. I'm about its 7th keeper and when i got it, it had and of course still has a somewhat noisy 5th gear, now i am or at least can be quite mechanically minded and handy with a spanner but have been told that changing out the gearing just wasnt worth the time effort or cost involved (hence the above engine) If anybody can help i would be really grateful.
  4. which makes me wonder why we are all sat in doors when we should all be out there burning rubber
  5. Evening everybody. I've been a member on here for quite a while now and although i don't get to come on very often it has occurded (but only when pointed out to a new member) that i to hadnt been to say a big hello, or even a small hello for that matter to you all. Please forgive me my ignorance, i think i must be suffering from the dreaded old timers. Well i guess you would have to call me a born again biker, although i started many years ago at the sweet tender age of 16 on a scooter, then the ball and chain with family followed so into the damn cage i went like all good (daft) daddies do. Now at the ripe old age of 58 I'm back on 2 wheels again and loving every minute of it. I currently have a kwakie GPX600 used whenever the weathers shit just about every day then and a not so old 650 dragstar which i have to say i would go every where on (wife permiting ofcause). Think thats about enough of me for now at least so all thats left to say is ride safe people.
  6. not been on for a while and now running a 650 dragstar which sadly has a bit of a whining top gear and i was just wondering if any one can tell me either just how hard it is to change out the gears and whether its really worth the time and trouble in doing so or how i could go about making it quieter, if such a thing is possible that is. Any help would be really appreciated. thanks.
  7. Hi peeps, thanks for the help and advice, you have helped me to make my mind up and keep well away from the stuff. thanks again chaps.
  8. Hi all, just wondering if any body can divvy up a little info, i have a 650 drag and sadly the chrome is blistering and peeling off of the engine casings, with being made of what they are my local chromers wont rechrome them as its too costly and they just dont do enough of the stuff to make it worth their expence, so i thought about useing chrome paint .... ok so whoever has the biggest foot can be the 1 to use it, just so long as i get some opinions too, has any one any ideas or opinions about this stuff as i really do not want to go the black paint stealth idea, thank you all in advance dave
