    boost yamaha

hi, i recently bought this months superbike magazine and to my suprise there is a pull out section on the cadburys boost yamaha team from back in the day! I have a 1998 boost yzf750sp and dont really know how many were made and more importantly how many might be left. Does anybody have one of these bikes as i have a few questions. I know mine was won in a competition. should i buy an old shitter to throw up a track? any info would be handy. thankyou
  3. hi mate, i have a yzf 750 sp and my rear wheel bearings went, i heard a metallicy noise and felt rumbling up me legs, so that could be ur noise. no movement in a roller type bearing is good mate and you really dont want to be riding it like that. remove ur rear wheel and get the numbers off the bearings (i changed all 3]. its a really easy job if you have half a clue. [the rear hubnut is 32mm, and should be retorqued to 190nm] DONT pay through the nose on maindealer prices, go onto a bearing specialist site type in the numbers of the bearings and hey presto a 1/4 of the price! oh and be carfull of getting the copper bush in the centre of the cush drive bearing out, its fragile, knock it out with the right size socket. as for 190 section ive heard it has been done, there seems to be plenty of space, different makes different widths? not sure of the ridability factor. let me know on the brake pads, why not fit a nice set of wavy disks aswell? oooh

    exup valves

hi, i have recently wired open the exup valve on my yzf750sp, the pros, the bike isnt jerky below 6000rpm if i crack the throttle open really fast anymore, the bike pulls better down the revrange [pulls hard from 4000] not as bad engine braking when the throttles shut making the bike easier to ride in the rain, {no rear wheel lock up when down shifting}. exhaust sounds lovely. i have a micron slip on. the bike doesnt stall on cold start due to less back pressure. the bike is a completly different beast to ride. oh and i knocked half a second off me 1/4 mile time. now the cons. i have a stinking flatspot at 3500-4000 rpm which im getting sorted on a dyno in a couple of weeks.unfortunatly i ride 2 work in that revrange and it does me head in. most people put up with it by all accounts. i tried the de exup route, it works for me mate.

  6. has any1 fitted a kevlar clutch to their road bike? are they usable on day to day commuting. thankyou.
  7. hi guys, im after a little advice, i have a yzf750 sp i use for drag racing and a daily commute [ if the weathers nice!]. After 25 hamfisted starts on a very hot day the clutch started to slip and now the biting point of the clutch is right at the top of the lever which would suggest ive worn the original clutch out. I am considering fitting a kevlar clutch but on reading the product information it says the clutch lever has a completly different feel over the stock item, i dont really want the back wheel locking up on me on everyday riding as the biting point is too fierce [on of off]. I wondered if any1 has fitted a kevlar clutch to thieir bike and got on well with it or gone back 2 the stock clutch with heavy duty springs. although the kevlar clutch is double the price of a standard clutch and heavy duty springs [that isnt a problem], i dont want to sacrifice decent road riding so i can benifit 8 times a year drag racing. at least i know the kevlar clutch will take the stick. is a standard clutch and heavy duty springs the way forward????????? thanks
  8. hi, i have a 1998 yzf750 sp, im lookin into fitting a extended swinging arm as i use the bike for 1/4 mileing. i was wondering if the early r1 arm is the same, the bracing and the chain sliders look identical but wasnt sure about mounting hole dimensions etc. i know the r1 runs a 190 section tyre where mine is a 180, will my wheel just slot in? im looking for this info as i think i have more chance of finding an r1 extended arm on ebay than the a yzf type, i dont want to spend 750 quid on a jmc item if i dont have to. tightass any help much appreciated.
  9. thanks for the help guys. that has thrown a bit of light on the subject.
  10. hi guys and girls! sorry 2 bring up the dreaded exup valve again but ive looked every where for a decent answer to this question, so many different opinions on this! i have a yzf 750 sp, the exup valve is working fine but im after a few sneeky torques of maybe a horse or 2! some poeple rave about wiring the exup valve fully open and leaving the servo so you dont get the error code. is it even worth doing this? i have a carbon micron tail pipe on the bike already, should i bite the bullet and buy a new header and junk the exup valve completly? i use the bike for 1/4 mileing and road rideing i dont really want to cause trouble by gaining more top end and loosing out at the bottom end with stinking great flat spots! OR should a leave well alone and spend me cash somewhere else on the engine! (standard). any help would be appreciated, thankyou.

    hate to loose!

hi guys and gals! heres another quick question for ya's. does anyone know what the average sports bike (eg r6 etc) will beat, in a midrange race on a motorway/track against your run of the mill scooby, evo, super type car? does anyone have any good hyper/supercar scalps under their belts? on the flipside has anyone on a low power machine beat a relitivly powerful car and chuckled their arses off when they got home? i have a yzf750 sp and don't wanna get beaten by sum crappy porker do i!
  12. hi guys. just a quick question. as i have my yzf750 sp apart at the mo doing my spark plugs is it worth me drilling the airbox? does anyone know the pros and cons to this? i will drill the right side! honest. thankyou
  13. my new years resolution was to lose a little wieght to get my quarter mile times down at westonzoyland this year, but as ive had half a tin of roses for my tea i dont think its gonna happen somehow! theres always next year.

    check it out

hi guys and gals! check out "piston exits engine" on youtube. unfortunate but dare i say it, funny!!!!!!
  15. very good mate! i was expecting fisty cuffs in the end but oooh i was so wrong!
  16. HI PEEPS i thought this subject might spark some interest but to be honeset i was expecting to be told speeding is silly and i might hert myself! (like my wife tells me). I asked a chap at work how fast is fast and he said to me he would do 80-90 which i agreed with as i would do that myself on private roads (of course). Speeding is like a drug and once you get the bug thats it, you have to keep going onto bigger and bigger bikes to hit the spot or you have to step back and slow down and think of others like somone said. im new to motorcycling and have had my license for little over 2 years and i know i dont have the years of expeience some of you guys have but i still go out there and ride like a absolute t**t. ive had a few close scrapes but fight on to live another day and hopfully learn by my mistakes. THE only downside is ive reached the limits of my 750 sp in a straight line.( on private roads) and in a way im looking for the next rush, but as somome said anyone can go fast in a staight line but its the corners that are harder to master! so i say lets get me knee down a few more times and ride the corners faster before i get a bigger bike. everyone nos somone whos been hert on killed on a bike right? thanks for the responses and stay safe and illegal!!!!!
  17. just a quick question! on a normal sunday ride out how fast does the average bloke or lady ride before they say thats fast enough and they back off the throttle and say THIS IS STUPID!. Bearing in mind its a nice national speed limit road they know and the weathers perfect an all that stuff. I know people are going 2 say, depends on the bike and the experience of the rider, but everybody has a limit don't they? is it just nudge the 60mph limit or abliterate it!!!!!!!!!. thanks.
  18. thanks for the help peeps. yea maybe i should of been a little more spcific amber bulbs would of been fitted also, they're not hard 2 get hold of its the lenses that are the buggers. fowlers a good idea they're only up the road. thanks again. ps the reason i would like clear lenses is they look a little more tidy ( to me).
  19. hi everybody! im hoping sombody can point me in the right direction of some clear indicator lenses for my 1998 yzf750sp (cadburys boost foxeye type). in NOT after complete indicator stickion units as i would like to keep the bike in an fairly unmolested state. the lenses are rectangular and held on with a phillips head self tapper. any help would be much appreciated as amber repeaters are a pet hate of mine. thanks alot.
