  1. Seems do-able, so long as youre confident in making the brackets and possibly welding.. I dont see how it cannot be done, but id assume itl'd be easier to get the brackets from the donor bike (cut them off, evenly, and level on both sides) or if the are bolted on, it'll be easier.. But one thing i must say, measure twice, then drill/cut etc.. Im hoping somebody else might be able to help a bit more here, I havent the first hand experience in doing such a mod.. hope this helps, uzi_999
  2. just a quick question.. not that i need to know as for now, but how does one change fork oil?? do the seals just rip out, pour oil, and plonk a new set of seals on? thought id ask, rather than getting a pair of long nose pliers to my forks!
  3. oh what will we do now, without foamy's young wild touch of humour in the forums?
  4. Wont put heavy things in there, just the light stuff that are somewhat 'spacetaking' in the tailpack.. (clothes and stuff) might have a trick up my sleeve nearer to the time, no promises tho, but ill post it up in the gallery if i do! Was on about central london, central hotel?? is that like a biker hotspot?? Where abouts u been living? Got a mate down burgess road (east ham), probably know a few people in manor park, and quite a few down stratford thats all local, im over in Leyton.. (and yes, i support leyton orient - not a proper fan tho, just local pride)
  5. top man!! a new route, cos gonna stop here for a pitstop
  6. 3 asians (no offence, well, i aint taking any, so dotn see why anybody else should) are sitting in a bar, being asian, they love to lie and chuff themselves up... first says - "my grandad, he was so hard, he went underwater, stayed there for 50 minutes, and then came out" second - "my grandpa.. u think ur grandad is good.. my grandpa.. my grandpa went underwater, and came out 5 hours later!" Everybody shocked at this, the third told about his grandad - "My grandad.. he went underwater, still aint up yet!!"
  7. thanks all for the tips yupyup barwell, nuneaton isnt too far from rugby .. gas up lets go - going to take my phone with me, so got a nice camera, gonna take fotos along the way, st. albans, along milton keynes grid roads (i did a 2000 word report on them at uni without even having seen them! - hope my lecturer doesnt ride a yammy, and hope he dont use this forum). theres many places to stop for a cuppa and a mars bar, them trucker stops are somewhat friendly (so long as u offer them a cuppa and a mars bar too ).. Wont really need much luggage, a change of clothes, and gonna be living with an old friend (ex-teacher) and his family, so no need for cosmetic n bathroom stuff (except tooth brush , obviously ) ill take my security chain and both locks with me - i\'ll have my rucksack (karrimor airspace 25 - the old model).. its got a waterproof foldaway cover - so has my humpback tailpack.. Ive got textiles, and a waterproof liner inside em.. ill pick up a waterproof over-jacket from camping shop, had a pair of waterproof over-trousers (somewhere in dads \'building-work\' car ) And the bike seems good enough, they chose.... the... YAMAHA YBR125!!!.. ill do the tyres, oil etc, night before, and on the morning as i leave.. and dirtydt - thanks for the tip, ill try using a little longer route, so long as ive got cover from buildings, trees etc (as opposed to the open a-road dual carraigeways) and im considering getting an AA membership - was speaking to one of their biker patrols in central a while ago - theyve got a few bike specific mobile units - a full bike workshop in a van!! thanks all thought i read in the shower at home at 6pm - was thinking wtf, WOW!! two hours *EDIT* got a slightly different route - *CLICKY* - the destination may be a bit different, but this is to the house, as opposed to the event location (going to and fro them two is a piece of cake - done it MANY times, too many).. i plan to have a pitstop in ayelsbury, and two quick sit-downs (if needed) in buckingham and brackley.. final pitstop in banbury, freshen up, and a nice long straight to cov!! a bit like A,B,C - Ayelsbury, Banbury, Coventry!! (wont get to see st. albans, but oh well.. theres always time for another tour.. plus i been there by car anyway) thanks again..
  8. hey all, planning to ride up to good old nuneaton, need to be there on 3rd july.. Im familiar with the roads and stuff up there, and got a few friends in cov, so no probs with that, BUT for the past however long ive been going up there and coming back, its been in my cars (over the years).. For the first time, i plan to go by bike, got a ybr125 (yup, im a 'CBTer'), and so the route is not so bad, the A5 goes straight up there.. What worries me is... -What things to take with me?? -How long should it take me?? *clicky* my proposed route *clicky* -What to watch out for on a bike riding for so long? - but the rider (me) - what to watch out for in me, fatigue etc? Ive ridden around london, been a bit windy, but have managed so far.. Trip to southend was a little windy, but i expect this ride to be pretty damn windy? any tips? I plan to keep my luggage minimum, and in by tailbag, and some of the stuff over my tank (cargo net-ted) to give better weight distribution, and 'road-hug'.. pls let me know your tips and comments.. thanks
  9. but my names usman, uzi_999 on the email/forums.. in leyton, east london, born here, lived a year in birmingham, and nine years in nuneaton (to where i plan to ride to on a CBT in july - country lanes - ill stick up a thread on it in a bit *done clicky*).. ermm, 21 years old (just about) been driving since 17, and riding past 8 months.. currently studying multimedia and internet systems engineering at city uni, london.. thats about it reeeaaaly
  10. LMFAO!!!! loooool Ermm, u sure its not the definoulatimony respinational sensor?
  11. was wondering if itld be fine to post that poem posted by merv onto my facebook.. it really touched me its true tho, them cagers dont see the good in us all, only the bad that they think they see! the amount of times ive stopped to give way to people walking past, the smiles they have on... NOTHING AT ALL like the smiles they have when i walk into tesco to buy bread and milk with a helmet hanging from my arm and my riding gear on.. its like im a flipping martian! but had to be said *edit* just googled it and found it.. it seems to be over on various forums, one site calls it "A Good Book In A Bad Cover" by Brandon Hardin - incase anybody else wanted to post it someplace.. thanks
  12. as far as i remember, the 07 models, had the 'wibbly wobblies' on, theyl just bend and get back to normal.. theyre held in place by a little oval shaped washer thingy.. i assume your ybr is the type with the hard plastic shaft indicators.. i suppose if you can open the indi unit, and somehow remove the old nut, place a new one in there, and push it thru the mudguard bit, and bolt on other side.. or the easier way, a second hand indicator from good old fleabay
  13. was just about to suggest that, ive got the wedge type bulbs in mine, but theyre led's blue along the speedo and blue and red along the rev counter
  14. fuel injected.. i would supoose that anything needs adjusting, as its injected.. im not as techhie as many of the members, but id suggest, spark plug -> airbox -> (duno what to check next ) sorry couldnt be of much help oh and welcome to the forum
  15. I CAN HELP YOU, CLICK HERE THANKS on a more serious note, welcome to the online community.. people here are very helpful, so long as you are polite >here ya go mate< *edit* (id rather edit, than double post..) first point to check would be the rear brake light bulb itself, as it only blows when that is switched on
  16. I suggest you take a read up around the forum.. pardon my french, but the cheng sh*t's are a whole load of danglies!! I have a ybr125 myself (join the club ) The stock tyres were absolute rubbish in the rain, and the sporty is one of the most common choices for this bike. Personally ive got a pair of michelin m45's (mechanic couldnt get the sporty's at that time), but id deeply recommend getting the front changed to a michelin sporty.. Take a quick search around, and you'll probably get a whole load of threads about the uselessness of the original tyres and to the forum, happy and safe riding!!
  17. really sorry for the very late reply.. had exams and all (finished today :D ) the bulb was a h*lfords jobbie, wasnt bad at around a fiver-ish.. clicky
  18. See lots of 'em around my uni (islington), especially on way home... They seem to have a third hand holding the handlebars, whislt one is zipping up their jacket, and other hand holding the two-way-radio infront on thier helmet so they can talk!! its unreal!!

  20. Right, was fiddling around with the ybr this morning (against what everyone says, trying to make it faster/louder/etc.. ), and found a pipe running fron the exhaust into the airbox.. opened it all up, and (to put it into words) theres a pipe coming out of the airbox, going thru a one-way-valve/non-return-valve (in plumbing terms), and to the exhaust.. the valve only allows air OUT of the box.. Heres a somewhat technical quick diagram, drawn up in ms paint... [arrow is direction of allowed air flow in valve, everything labelled, and roughly in position as is on bike, and red line is the rubber pipe] btw, the pipe connector on the airbox is on the 'clean' side of airbox Now i drew it up on paper, and could come up with two purposes for this being there.. 1. The exhaust fumes get 'diluted' with air, so as it's not as bad for the environment.. 2. The more air coming out of the exhaust (i.e. the higher the revs), is proportional to the amount of air sucked into the airbox.. Having disconnected this pipe (at exhaust end - not on airbox side, as that will have unfiltered air entering the throttle body (carb, or whatever it is called on an injected bike ), i found that it sounds AWESOME!! a bit too loud, but ermm, i could get used to it!! Are there any dangers of having it disconnected? As no dirty air entering the combustion chambers (due to one-way-valve).. Im assuming its like a hole in the exhaust.. I think it would affect the fuel consumption, and taken it for a quick ride, found it still accelerates the same (seems a tad bit slower above 40mph tho - maybe its just my brain playing tricks) I also smell a sh*tty smell, fuel vapour it seems like.. However, its much louder, was wondering if it would harm the poor molested bike or would it turn the beauty into a beast (well, audibly ) Any ideas on what its for, what it does, and safe to disconnect (at exhaust end, AFTER the one-way-valve) now theyl all hear me thanks in advance
  21. yup, just went down and tried it i dont think its like the fazer, ive managed to have it on the centre stand, and rock it forward (back tyre off the floor) and put it in first and ride!!.. felt like the worlds moving forwards as i do
  22. Sorry, but im not too sure on 1.5", but i think it was more around beteen 25mm and 35mm in the book..
  23. I got a halogen bulb for my YBR, makes a heck of a difference!! if i remember correctly - '395' is the normal bulb, '407' is the halogen version, with the same base - but i'm not 100% sure on that.. Should be not too hard to find, but u need to ensure that the watts (35/35) - i think they were - are the same.. (pm me if ud like to pop dow and take a look, im sure ive written it down somewhere ) As for tyres, michelin pilot sport - everybody swears by them - but personally i have got michelin m45's (mechanic said he couldnt get hold of the pilots).. the stock nylons are ABSOLUTE SH*TE!!! To spruce it up - Ive got myself a nice little tank pad, ive removed the chrome luggage rack (looks a bit more sporty-ish), been tinkering around, and fitted some white led's - around the engine, under rear arch, and (soon - when i figure out where to mount em) around the front tyre.. Nothing much to really spruce up, what they all told me, save money, and get a bigger bike Hope this helps
