wow, Jimmy, that's a bummer mate. Hope it'll work out for you as I'm sure it will.
I like you're staying positive.

i'd check what other shocks for yours and do an eBay search for hagon, fornals etc. get a decent aftermarket shock which can be rebuilt

Hey all, just moving through a cafe racer rebuild on a '79 XS750 and getting to rebuilding the carbs. Im going to be running pod filters and straight through exhaust. How many sizes in carb jetting should I go up? Do only the pilot and main jet have to be enlarged, or does the air jet too? Cheers.
how long is a piece of string?
there's no standard jetting for this and CV carbs hate pods as the air flow doesn't suit the way they work. what you can do is linear the flow by having a pipe fitted to the mouth of the carbs and then to the pods, poss have a balance pipe fitted too.
I would get it on a dyno when you have a ball park figure and it runs. -
never mind, soon be Christmas

I've had a few frames powder coated and I'd check their work first before committing.
Some are just garden furniture coaters and that is the standard you get.
As you haven't completed your bio. I've no idea where you live so can't recommend anyone except triple s in bingley who are not the cheapest, but def up there with quality.
All coaters blast the frames just before they coat them. do it yourself and they won't guarantee their work as flash rusting with take place. decent coaters also blank off threads etc

to the mad house.

they are a pain to do, and there's not much room to get the cover off either.
then there's taking the cams out just to change the shims and retiming the cams etc.
luckily its every 20k or so i believe.- 1
