  1. Your right Foamy, the highways agency/goverment need to try the utterly stupid rules themselfs before dishing them out to the unhappy public, restricting bikes is to be fair a stupid stupid ruleing. EVERYONE knows the real reason for more crashes is more people driving! When i were a lad i could pull out my drive and ride 2 miles into town (Bedford) and only see 15-20 cars on route, nowa days i'm waiting on 150-200 cars to drive pasted before i even get the chance to pull out my drive!!! NO ONE gives way,No one gives a shit cause lifes been made to busy, WE'VE DONE IT TO OURSELFS. Big bikes Do give you a better chance than a ped FACT.
  2. The bestest ever Yamaha was the RD350LC YPVS, A true gem in the pre-musent do that era. Tuning parts just oozing out of every bike shop. Crisp enjoyment the second the valves do thier thing as you turned the key. The only bike i've high sided over a ton and still rowed home (once i unbolted the bent steering damper) The bike that taught me to wheelie threw 2nd 3rd and into 4th before squealing the tyre on landing. Chelsea bridge machine every friday night what ever the weather. Yep, i'd have another any day of the week.
  3. Shhh, dont tell them that! We did it coz deep down we LOVED IT! admit it we were Kings of the road!
  4. Stuff of dreams mate, its a budget racer at best. I thought about the YZ route but money was a object there, big pennies buys a YZ lump and the cdi ect???? whooo up. The TZR chassis came free the DT engine cost me £67.09 on EBAY... The only real expence will be the pukka 05 TZ250 bodywork and the spoked alloy rims. Cheap hacks rock, This one may take time but it'll be one of the cheapest fun bikes around. Be tight go far.
  5. Bet u fissie riders liked the smell o" two -stroke u always being behind I also had a MZ simpson 50, tuned way beond its wanting by a cart racers dad/mechanic,he filled in all the ports with some resign and completly changed there shapes....It easerly Pissed all over all 50's 100's and 1 or 2 LC's for the extremely short time it run, it reved so hard it shook its flywheel apart and trashed the ignition. Fun times, limited restrictions.... I honestly feel gutted for all who missed the wobbley days, they made biking a worthy mission/pleasure!
  6. I've jus brought a 82' DT250MX engine but its missing the cdi unit and i jus know that'll cost more than the engines worth, Would the stater plate and points from the earlier model fit the MX engine???? would i have to change the genarator/fly wheel ect to??? The engines going in a TZR 125 chassis for track days and day time use only so lightings Brake light only and i may run total loss as weights a issue and the more electrical gubbins jus puts it on. Any info would be helpfull, I know this aint a fast engine to start with but a major weight loss chassis wise, a stage 4 tune, 36mm mikuni carb, gibson pipe, reeds and road bias gearing i should rattle along nicely!. Would the 400 topend fit??? Cheers Nick.
  7. Would a DT400 barrel piston crank and rod fit the 250 crank cases??? I know all the usuall tuning mods but the bigger the bore the better the starting place! I've solved one huge problem, i've reduced the weight by 50kgs at least by having a super light TZR 125 chassis, and some more to loose with spoked 17" alloy rims onway. I need to get Gibson to make a exhaust for it as its now a road going bike,i want one that fits properly!!! I noticed the expansion on a trial/dirt bike of the DT's era/type has a longer front pipe before the expansion than a road bike.... does that affect the rev range of torque? ie make it happen lower down compared to road bikes??? as my YPVS exhausts started the widening to the expantion almost as soon as they left the barrel. Any idea's??? Share them here please. Nick.
  8. I have when i was 15. I'm 39 now and i recently saw my old tatty FS1E 100% restored and for sale for £3400!!!! I should have kept it and sorted it out!!! P reg cost me £100 second hand way back when. Did/have you enjoyed the 4 speed pleasure?

    YZF R125

Dude for the worship of the Rossi fair play but for the price!!!! Thats dirty. For the ease of 125 life get good rubber and get the forks and shock sorted, 125's are all about carrying wot precious speed you have, sorting your chassis and brakes make a big difference all round. (wacking a 250 crosser engine in it would make a sound improvement)
  10. Right its like this, I've just been given a mk1 TZR 125 with a Kawasaki KX400 engine in it, thats fine but aint frisky enough for my liking and its not a Yami part. I'd like to get a YZ250+ engine and the other bits needed to make it run. Anyone got a spare engine ? Prefure a LC but a YZ250/490 aircooler wouldent be ignored. PM me if you know of one going at a good price. Cheers Nick.
