  1. Hey Kelley- I just got my 73 restored over the winter and was very sucsesful finding what I needed on E-bay. Be patient as all parts will show up sooner or later. Very cool that this was your Dad's bike- it will be very rewarding and special when you get it done. Greg
  2. Got it- Worked like a champ- Thanks for the help.
  3. Need Help- Can anyone tell me how to remove the Coil Spring from my 1978 Yamaha XT500? Looking to Freshen them up with some Gloss paint for my Restoration project. Thanks for any advice. Greg
  4. Yes the enitre manual would be great to have- Thanks for your help and I will look for the link when you post it.
  5. I understand. I think what I need is to understand how to set the timining- adjustment of the Cam Chain, Points etc.. I am also needing Carb info as I need to go thru it to make sure it is working properly. I have a good Spark- so it has to be fuel- air or timing. Thanks again- Greg I will look out for the link when you get it posted.
  6. Newbe with a 78 Yamaha 500 Thumper- I have been a 2-stroke guy and completed many restro projects. I have always wanted a TT500 4-stroker and was able to pick one up in very good condition but will not start. I feel it may be a timing and/or tune-up issue as the spark does not seem to be consistent. Got a couple sputters and small backfire and that is it so far. Any help on where I should start to get this bike running? Thanks for any help! Greg
  7. Thanks for all of the advice so far from this forum- I appreciate it very much. I have a real problem that I cannot figure out- The turn signals light up as they should and with the left switch control changes sides perfectly The problem is they light up but do not flash???? I just puchased a new Flasher Relay thinking that was the problem- same result. It has to be a wiring issue? Any advice will help. Thanks you Greg
  8. Well good news-- I have the 73 Yamaha CT3 175 all back together- had the top end all redone and I put it all back together and Fired right up 2nd kick. Oil pump is working great! All electrical is working except for the flashing of the trun signals- They light up but will not flash whether it is running or not. Is this the flasher unit? Or do I have something wired wrong? Thanks-
  9. [Hi again ... RT 1 360 -DT250/400 , All work the same settimg [ 0.20-0.25] this shud equivilent to 32/1 ratio. Duno about DT175 . but at 0.27 least its not too lean... Thanks again- I appreciate the help!
  10. thank you for the info on the 360. I will keep digging on the CT3 175 fork oil amount to see what I can find. I am starting on the Oil pumps and need to set the gap- Seeing 0.20 mm for the 360 Is this correct? Just took a loook at the CT3 175 and seeing it is at 0.27 mm? And sugestions on these settings? Seem correct?
  11. Hello everyone- New to the forum and I am starting 2 Resto projects on a 1973 RT 360 Enduro and a 1973 CT3 175 Enduro. I have just put new Fork seals in each bike and need to know how much fork oil to put in each bike. Thanks in advance for any help. Greg
  12. Jim, Thank you for the info. Not sure if the cream wire was ever attached to anything- do not see in the actual wire harness has a connection to this wire. Once I get the Tins back from paint and get the battery installed all the new bulbs and fuse- I will follow your guide below until everything lights up. I am also assuming the headlight will only come on when the bike is running? What about the tac and speedometer- these should light up with the key is move to the 2nd position with out bike running? Lastly- how do i adjust the oil pump? I will put a little pre-mix in the gas tank and fill the oil tank- un-hook the oil line from the cylinder to see if oil is being pumped- How do I adjust the flow rate and how much should come out? Thanks agin for you help! Greg
