  9. Hi everyone.

the new Jawa 350 i bought doesn't have a V5c, and my dad has told me that if i get a reciept with the bike explaining that the documents weren't found when the bike was sold and that it was boguht from a deceased estate (i.e. it belonged to the dad of the bloke i bought it off) then i would not have to pay the £25 fee for a new V5C

is this correct?, if so how do i apply for a V5C under these terms?

    regards

    Steve

yes it was 7 years ago i dont know if law has changed i had to do the same free of charge good luck

But my heart is with Yamaha and right now I have an MT-03! oop's... in Red! (Colour is important to me... well it is!)

  13. Hi everyone.

have been discussing first cars with a friend of mine, his dad bought him an MGB GT for Xmas for £500 and im helping him restore it so he can use it as his first car (1.8 liter, woot!).

ive been thinking about my first car for a while now. i want something nice, something with prestigue, none of these horrible little chav chariots or peashooters that fall down every pothole they come to and have currently decided on a ford capri laser, insurance is £2,700 TPF&T and ive already put £106 towards that so i dont mind if the insurance is a little bit pricey aslong as its a nice car.

anyone got any suggestions as to what i should look for that matches my criteria?, ideally under or around the £1,000 mark

    - Steve

try a jaguar i got my xjr 32 t plate for £2250 mint con: ins is cheep

capri r grate if looked afted good luck

  14. hi a newby here,

broke a clutch bolt on my 1971 yas1 yesterday and the only ones i've found were on an australian site (which i now can't find again anyhow). can anyone suggest a place that might have them before i try to find that aussie site again or should i try and get one made up at an engineering shop? p/no is 90149 - 05147

hi the best cheap place will probaly be bitzforbikes try it then do shop around good luck

  15. I've been thinking this over for a while now, I have a Fazer 600, 2005 that I (just about) swapped last year for a Varadero 125 that my missus had. I've ridden it a few times but It's just to, erm, how do I put it, Fizzy! I just don't like the way you have to wind it up to make it go, I like to be able to pull away with low revs and push the bike on. Don't get me wrong, this is a great bike for someone just past their test (or who've never had a big bike with loads of torque) - it's just not for me.

So, I've been looking at what I can get to replace it. I need something that me and the misus can ride in comfort (the rear seat on the Tenere is just too high for her to get up), put some luggage on (for the pair of us) and has low end grunt. I've considered another Varadero, but I think I'd like to try something else, and if I turn up with another adventure bike I'm very likely to end up with it lodged in some place I don't want to talk about!. So I'm sort of settling on the likes of a Yamaha XJR1300, Honda CB1300 - you get the picture.

So, I'm interested in any ideas you guys have, experience of these bikes, general fault etc etc??

i would surjest the fjr1300 for same resons as me i just rote of my xjr1300 grate bike but miss wasent to comphy going

to preston from essex and thik the headbraeings r to weak for all that waight on them it started to click after 5000kmils

    good luck

  16. can eneone tell me if they know of what fults the fjr has as im thinking of getting one ive read the review s and they seem ok if u got one or know of em thanx ride safe

  17. As all the above, decline their offer and get prices for the equivalent age and model bike, they should replace like with like, they are just trying it on with their first quote

Having said that I found an 08 with 1600 miles for just £5500 Here

i only payed £5150 for it on the 07/07/08 so ive lost £150 spose thats like renting a bike for 6 months doing 5600k thats not bad ha,

the head bearings was sticking abit when i push it forword just befor i got on it so think it a prob with that bike its a lot of waight on the yoke so i think that was the reason for this plus im still off work got another two weeks from today

this is since dec/24 08 so ill get a good claim there.thanx to all

  18. hi well after the crash i had on 24th dec ive just told that my xjr1300 08 is no good and offerd me £5000 well i cant get

  22. Hey all.

I would appreciate some advice concerning luggage racks. I have never bought luggage for a bike before, they were usually used for getting dirty on or getting to work. Now i find myself a singleton im gonna start enjoying it!! So, please could you advise me as to the best looking (and most practical) luggage rack for my XJR 1300 '02 model. I plan on buying soft panniers and a hard topbox (52l Givi most likely) which will of course only be on the bike when touring, so the rack needs to be easilyish removed. I like the look of the SW Motech rack but it aint, cheap so before i buy i would like to hear from people more experienced.

    Many thanks

hi i find they look sh.t unles u got good hard sideboxies&solid backbox

one without the other dont do.....for me that is and they do protect it from fulls&knocks

take a looks at bitzforbikes they prety good

well good luck n ride safe

ps nice to here of a xjr1300 rider
