  1. Yo, deerrider, where abouts are you? im from Wirral trying to get a few people together for ride outs and meets maybe. Interested?
  2. Thanks for the info there guys, it does sound a bit of a big job just to replace them, but i`ll have a go next time om off for a few days. On the radiator part, i take it then i dont need to drain the rad and take off the hoses to replace the spark plugs, just detactch away from the buke and hang. AAAARRRRRRR for the old days when you could see the plugs on the engines....lol. Thanks again guys for the advise.
  3. After some advice please guys, Im up to 11k on the clock now and want to replace the spark plugs myself. Having consulted the haynes workshop manuelis it true that in order to replace the plugs i first have to take off the fairing then the tank and then remove the radiator?? It just seems very harsh to do all this to replace some wicks. Also, what do the members of this fantastic (grovel grovel) site advise on plugs, IE, which type etc etc. As always, good avice welcomed, thanks for reading.
  4. has not set their status

  5. Hi guys, Im after some advice please. Had a service done last week on my fazer 600s, nearly two years old and already up to 9500 miles on it....wooo hooo. Anyway, was told that i would need a new rear tyre soon, about a thousand miles left on it, even though there`s loads of `meat` on it, the middle is starting to wear thin apparentley, so, my question, whats the average millage on tyres anyway? Also, do i have to have the front one changed at the same time, even if there is nothing wrong with it? And finally, sprockets? whats the recomended milage before change, i know theres things to consider like condition and `mad riding` but just a rough idea as to how long these things last for. If these queries sound silly to you then forgive my ignorance but we all started some where.
  6. Hi guys, Im after some more valuble advice from you guys out there. I have a Fazer 600 s late 2008 model, its been run in, nearly 3500 miles already, but now i seem to be getting a lot of vibration through the seat when i hit between 57 mph and 66 mph. After, and before these speeds no vibration at all, very comfortale riding. The vibration is coming up through the seat area, very nice if your a woman im sure, but not for me. Any ideas out there on what it can be? Ideas that have already been thrown into the pot are, jets may need cleaning, adjusting of jets, injector blocked, injector needs cleaning. Im not mechanical minded on these things but would like some theories to put to the service garage when it goes in next week for its service and check over before i head to France on it next month. Hope you can help out there, or even if someone has had the same problem and could shed some light as to what it is. Many thanks and enjoy reading all topics and help notes from everyone. Great site.
  7. I will put this to the garage when i go back on Monday. Im guessing the mixture should be ok as only 6months old as the same for the plugs.
  8. Hi guys, Anyone got any ideas on this problem please. Going into work last night after about 5 miles of my 6 mile journey i noticed that when stopped the tick over was very rough, sounded like it was only firing on two plugs. Blip of the throttle and all ok, then when it slowed back to tick over back to the sound of two plugs. Half a tank of fuel so rule out near empty fuel. Also noticed this morning no indicators for turn left or right, but, they come on when the alarm arms and when you put the hazzards warning on. so any ideas of whats going would be appreciated. The bike in question is new from October last year and done about 2500 miles now. Its in the motorcycle shop now, i dropped it off there this morning and been given this shed of a Honda 400 to use,,,,,,yuck!!!! Ok, all answers to the problem would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks to all

Ok A real big big thank you to all those members who have given me advice and tips on going to France on a tour in May. All the advice in invaluble to me and my mate, again many thanks to you all who have contributed to it. At first it all sounds quite daunting but rereading them its starting to sink in as common sence really so thanks to all for your help ( i knew it was a good website/club from the beginning) So looking forward to the tour, roll on the good sunny weather...cheers.

    touring

Hi all, Going to France in May with a firm called `British Bike Tours`, going to the `Bridge in the Sky` tour. and because this is my first time abroad on the bike..FZ2 600, going with a mate as well, we chose to go on an organised tour first. My reason for this thread is that i would like any feed back from any bikers who have been to France, even to the Bridge in the Sky tour, on advice of what to take on these tours? books to get maybe, places to visit, tips on anything really. I think that if it all goes so well in May we will try on our own to do another trip, so any feed back greatly appreciated please!

    Howdy

Hi there YOGI, I have not long bought thr FZ6 S-2, October this year, as my first `big` bike after passing my test in May. Had a look and test rides on all the other 600/650s around, believe me, i was becomer a serial bike tester with my local motorcycle dealer....lol. I settled on the Yam FZ6 S-2...well happy with it. Im 6`1" tall and weigh in at 14 stone, so no probs on the bike. Girlfriend loves it on the back of the bike better than any of the others. Feels a lot more safer and more comfortable than the others. it will feel very very revie at first, dont worry, i have asked several different people about it, mechanics, sellers, bikers even the guy at the NEC show this year selling them, its what they all do. Soon as you run it in though......heaven!!! In fact me and a pal from work are going to France next year on our bikes, a first for european touring, but looking forward to it. If your lucky you might be able to get it on the Yamaha interest free deal there offering now still, (it was supposed to end in September) but they have kept it going for longer. Well worth it matey, you wont be dissappointed by the bike. Just so you know as well, its run in now and i get roughly 165 miles to the full tank (£13)

    Europe

Ok now the bike has been successfully run in now and had its first service. it now runs lovely and smooth. What a dream of a motorcycle to ride. My only `niggle` is the gears. The bike dosent seem to need all of them, going from 1st to 2nd its like just pulling in the clutch in first gear and letting it out in 1st gear, no difference.....lol. Anyway i have been told that thats the way the fz2 60 is anyway. It still sounds `cluncky` in the gears but again been tolsd thats what the bike does. So now setting my sights on taking it into Europe on a `jaunt`......lol, (got to make most of the free european breakdown that came with it)...lol, so anyone out there done this thing before and your information, guides, places to go....anything realy appreciated please. And for those who are looking at this site because of whatever reason, this is a great site. There is loads of help on here if you ask. Loads of good sound advise and info on anything to do with the bikes. Great banter as well, so enjoy the site and feel free to join with whatever you need to know no matter how trivial it may be to you. Hey, we have ALL been there at the start.
  13. havent checked the tyre presures to be honest, didnt think ied need to be yet, just over 400 miles. I will check tomorrow. The first full tank gave me around the 160 mile mark, Give or take 5 miles. Is this about right then?
