  1. Hi there guys and gals! Has any of you fine people got (or know of) a bellypan to fit a 1998 Yamaha FZS600 Fazer that is for sale? I dont mind what colour but silver would be awesome! Must come with all fittings though - or at least tell me how and where to get some from. Any help is greatly appreciated! Cheers all!
  2. Hi Guys and gals! Just got a query I'm hoping some of you may be able to shed some light on. I have a 1998 Yamaha FZS600 fazer. The problem is this - the speedometer works fine, the odometer (total mileage) works most of the time but not 100%, and the trip computer dont work at all! It always reads 0.0 - it has worked once or twice but 99.9% of the time its none functioning! Has anybody else had the same issues? any idea how to remedy this? Any help at all greatly appreciated! Thanks folks! Ride safe.
  3. wicked job mate - especially the paint. Think the other guys are right on about the end can tho dude - gotta be a stubby! While I'm at it, and its not a criticism - but how bout some R1 brakes on the front? I have a Yzf750R and I know the standard brakes are pretty good but ya gotta admit them R1 calipers look the nuts! Gonna do a straight bar conversion on mine when I can suss out how to get round the fairing support bracket etc! Any ideas? seen it done anywhere? - nice job on ya yzf tho man - keep it sunny side up eh?!
  4. Hi there - thanks for the suggestion - will certainly look into it, the main prob I can see will be the fairing bracket which may prove a bit of a pain but sure someone will know a good fix! maybe I'll get a spare top yoke so I can revert it back to standard when selling it on etc - but for now I'll look into the risers. cheers dude.
  5. Hi folks - just a quickie - has anybody had any experience with running the Yam Yzf750r with no exup valve? I have seen some nice stainless headers on Evilbay that do away with the exup valve. Is there any advantage to this? or is it just a big headache? The advert says "no re-jetting required".......mmmm - dunno bout that one! what ya reckon folks? is it worth it? (my exup system is running fine at the mo - just the collector box looking a bit rusty!) - Many thanks all.
  6. Hi everybody - was wondering if anybody can shed light on a query I have. I have a 96 Yamaha Yzf750R. It's totally standard apart from scorpion can. The problem I have is with the handlebars. I find them quite uncomfortable, heavy on the wrists etc - especially in slow moving traffic. I wanna keep the bike but sometimes I wish I could fit it with straight bars or at least some that are more wrist-friendly! Any ideas folks? I dont really want to streetfighter it, but I'm open to all suggestions! many thanks.
  7. thanks yamagod for the pics - hopefully mine will look something like that when I've finished it!
  8. cheers paul. nice one - will have a look at that. Every bit of info helps. Safe riding mate
  9. Hi Tony - thanks for taking the time out to post a reply mate - will look into the RD websites you suggested. Also, I do have the haynes manual with the bike (no relevent info tho) ,I also have a book on the history of the 350lc (haynes "Great bikes" range) - but no info as yet - and I doubt a Yamaha dealer will be interested in helping. Keeping my fingers crossed my mate finds the key!. Its not the end of the world if not - the ignition barrel and petrol cap are easily replaced via M and P catalogue - its just the seat lock which may prove difficult. Again thanks for your reply - very good of ya - keep it two wheels sunny side up mate
  10. Hey guys! wondered if any of you fine fellow yamaha fans could shed a bit of light on a couple of things for me. I am currently starting out on a restoration project on a 1986 Yamaha RD350 F1 YPVS (uk bike) and need some detailed pics of a standard one in standard colours (mine should be white / red) - I have a couple of side-on pics in a book I've bought but need some of the top of the petrol tank and top of the tail piece etc - so I can hopefully get the painting right. Does anybody know where I can obtain the original paint codes and paint? One more thing - Although I have all the documents, the previous owner, as yet, cant find the key, obviously hoping he can find it but if not - any idea how I can obtain a duplicate from yamaha - is the key number stamped on the ignition barrel anywhere? cheers to all who offer any advice - everybody have fun out there and stay safe.
  11. wow! thanks a lot for taking the time out to give me more help with this conversion. I see what u mean now I have seen the pics. A brave move to cut the frame but it does look an incredibly neat bit of welding! Its far more involved than I first thought but does sound an exciting proposition - especially when there is 140bhp to be had! Time to get saving those pennies I reckon! Many thanks again - most appreciated - will try and return the favour if ever I can! Cheers mate.
  12. Thank you so much for ya response mate. i seem to be getting a couple of conflicting bits of advice at the moment. I spoke to another guy from this forum - I emailed him direct - now, he says he has done this conversion. However, since I have a Mk2 yzf750 (95 on?) he said that I would need downpipes, carbs, and thermostat from the ace, and that i could use my ecu. He did point out that this would let the engine rev higher. (Maybe a little self-restraint needed?!)But when I asked about any other mods he never mentioned the frame having to be altered - only that the airbox wont fit and to use K & N's - just like u said. What's your feelings about this? would it make any odds that I have the later adjustable suspension model? (not an SP tho, unfortunately!) - what's your experience with this mod? have you done it yourself or know someone that has? The other guy says he got 140bhp at the back wheel after a bit of dynojetting and setting up - sound about right to you? If so - thats awesome and potentially R1 beating power!! Thank you again for taking the time out to help with my query. Cheers, Grant.
  13. Trust me mate - It will be a money pit once you start! - consider new everything ! but it would be well worth it in the end - especially if u take ya time and do it right. If ya need any tech advice etc u could do worse than speaking to Albert at R.J motorcycles in Coalville, Leicestershire. He heads a nice little LC fan club and is well clued up on all things LC! (sorry, cant remember the phone number!) Best of luck mate. Do it !- you know it makes sense!
  14. Hi there guys (and gals, of course!) I'm a newbie to this Yamaha forum and lovin it already! - Wondered if I can ask my fellow Yam owners for some help? I have a 96 (p) Yamaha YZF750R (uk bike) and I love it - just the right height & everything for me - I want more power but can bear to part with the bike and dont really wanna spend fortunes on tuning for very small bhp gains. I've heard that a Thunderace 1000 engine will go "straight in"? I appreciate that this may be mega old news for most of u guys and prob be asked 100 times before - but has anyone actually done this mod? What about things like the following : Wiring loom Exhaust manifold cooling system Airbox (enough clearance underneath & can u use standard 750 airbox?) chain / sprocket alignment? Any frame mods? can u use standard 750 ecu? I would love it if you guys can help me out with some sure-footed info on this swap - cos if it is a nice easy swap-over then I'll go for it rather than spending the cash on dynojetting and rolling road tuning etc. I know it'd be quicker / easier to buy a Thunderace but I would really rather keep my beloved 750R. Cheers Eveybody! Stay safe out there! Grant.
