  1. When I had mine I wrapped the baffle in 'stove rope' which took the edge off nicely.
  2. I miss the Tom sandwich
  3. There's due to be remedial work beginning soon at Bridgewater place to combat the wind tunnel effect
  4. Don't worry, I've been badgering Leeds City Council on improving the roads in Leeds for motorbikes for years. They always said bikes couldn't use bus lanes as we'd crash in to cyclists and cars wouldn't expect to see us in the bus lanes so would crash into us. Also the trials in London and other cities are inconclusive. Anyway, now they've built (or are building) the cycle-superhighway, which has narrowed the roads making it harder to filter, I've told them we're not a danger to cyclists anymore (not that we ever were). Also pointed out we're vulnerable road users too so they should give due consideration to our safety - which they've never done in the 10 years I've been biking in Leeds. Latest is they have said they will look to trial bus lane use for motorcyclists. Watch this space but don't hold your breath...
  5. Well, I've used them once but had no issues. Only thing was front tyre arrived one day before the rear even though both in stock. Nothing major though
  6. Yup, it has a bag to collect leaves... 1. Make sure you remove bag. 2. Run the leaf blower away from the bike to clear it. Or just use an air compressor like I do now.
  7. I used muc-off miracle shine on mine for chrome. If you use a leaf blower to dry it, make sure it's empty - I didn't and had to rewash the bloody thing
  8. For bus lanes in Yorkshire, as above check signage but in general: You can ride in most in York and Sheffield - these are signposted. Leeds does not permit it (at present) though you can use 2+ lanes - again signposted. York, Sheffield and Leeds provide specific motorbike parking bays which are free. Whitby also allows free bike parking. Helmsley makes bikes pay for parking in the main square, though free on the road if you can find a spot. I wouldn't park on the pavement as you'll end up with a ticket. Also don't use the hard shoulder for filtering - the police will bollock you for it.
  9. +1 to oponeo. Got some Michelin Pilot Road 4s for £168 delivered. Local shop wanted £230 for same tyres. Local shop charged £10 each to fit to loose wheels.
  10. I'd say loose connection / earth. If you post a 'hello' in the introduction section some of the more knowledgeable guys may reply

    Bike got stolen

Good luck fixing it Grouch. Hope karma gets the little buggers
  12. The 1300 took its power for spotlights from inside the headlight bucket.
  13. Campaman, I made one of those for my XVS1300. Worked well enough to let me change dog bones etc but it won't be much use for say removing a tyre. If you do go that route, you really need someone able to take the weight of the bike when you lower it back down. My brother helped with the 1300 but nearly dropped it as lowering isn't smooth/easily controllable.
  14. It's not phones you need to worry about, someone I work with was going to travel from London to Leeds for a meeting. I told him to get the train, he says he would rather drive as he can set the cruise control to 60mph and watch a dvd...!!! I told him he's an idiot but he doesn't see what's wrong with it
  15. Also check for corrosion in any connections. I had issues with corroded connections recently which kept killing my fuel injector circuit.

    Oh bollocks

Or loan you a spare battery to tide you over?
  17. You may want to consider a chain oiler? I use a Scotoiler, turn it up slightly for winter and down for summer. Don't clean my chain unless you count when it rains, and occasional paint the chain with oil. Bike is used all year round, 22,500 miles on the chain and looks like new. Have hardly had to adjust the chain either.
  18. That seems unnecessarily complicated. That one big roundabout in the middle of the diagram should be enough. Bearing in mind most drivers can't manage normal tasks I wouldn't want to be riding somewhere where they actually need to use their brain...
  19. I'd email Yamaha Customer Service, explain what happened and what you were told and ask them to clarify if that is a. accurate (washing your bike can cause engine management lights to flash) and b. whether it's normal for Yamaha Dealers to say you need to pay for it before they've even looked at it? You may wish to say you're surprised that your bike getting wet can cause this issue, given Yamaha's excellent reputation for build quality and now you're worried that if your bike is caught in the rain you may end up stranded somewhere. I'm sure they'll tell you washing your bike/riding in the rain will not damage it, and you'll have that email for future reference.

    2 years later

    Well done and enjoy
  21. I hope Honda gave Marquez a good bollocking. Thing is, Marquez knows they won't ditch him (yet). Good on Danny Kent
  22. I had a quick look on ebay. There are some knackered tanks listed on there - it could be worth contacting the sellers and see if they can provide the bits you need (ebay.com may have more? Search 'vstar 1300 tank')
  23. That's a bugger! As above try to find someone who can supply petrol resistant hoses. You can view available parts at www.fowlersparts.co.uk
