  1. A little update for you all. I have now got the spacer in was a little strange I just tried again and got it a little way in and then the hammer came out and tapped it the rest of the way. So a little more done over Friday and Saturday. Got the rear wheel adjusts in with plenty of copper grease and plastered the washers on the rear axle in copper grease and got the rear wheel in as well. Then just for some cheap glory I slapped the new sprcket onto the engine. Plenty of copper grease on this one too. So the next step was the Loom I had my dad doing some soldering on this beast as they had done a bodge job of taking the alarm out and I had some random wirers going no were and also one of the indicator wires had detached from the plug to the relay which might explain why my front right indicator didn't work when I bought the bike. Bought myself some Auto Glym Black Dye and sprayed up the rubbers which have come out quite nicely and fitted them, Followed by looking at lots of pics of the loom to work out were it sat and here is the end result. Just to polish it off I fitted the Ignition that I had got hold of I couldn't belive that they don't make sheer off bolts for these any more they are just normal screws seems silly to me but thats life. They do have stud locker on them though.
  2. All Righty Then. This is what I got up to this weekend. First step this beasty turned up in the post during the week I have been looking at it every night waiting to get it sorted. First off I masked off the shaft so I couldn't scratch it, After a good scrub down with a wire brush and a spray of with some cleaner it was looking a bit better and then off for a spray. While the Damper was getting coats of paint put on I started on these. I started by giving them a good rub down as you can see one was rather scratched so I had to get that smooth. then just to mask them up using some of the heat proof wool from the frame being powder coated. Off for some paint Well some paint latter and a little time spent cleaning some other parts like the top yoke and the rear wheel adjusters and here be the result. Rather pleased with my handy work the Forks went to the oven for some baking to make them Chip Resistant I set about fitting the damper. Followed by a quick fitment of the oil feed that got sprayed black when I sprayed my mates exhaust. Although I have now realised it will have to come back off you will see why later. Well with the forks still in the oven and the damper in I found my self a nice tool box and slapped the engine on top. I gave the main two engine bolts a good clean up, covered them with Medium Grease and aligned the top engine mount bolt with one spacer on the frame. Then lined up the frame with the engine and stuffed the bolt though. After a little bit of playing I found the best way to get everything aligned was to get all the engine brackets and bolts in place. Got everything bolted in alignment so none of the bolts are tight. Except the top bolt where I can't get the 2nd spacer in. Grr Any thoughts on how to get that other spacer in would be greatly appreciated. I'm wondering if its the extra layer that the poweder coat as put on. By this stage the forks were done with there hour in the ovan and out they came obviously a little time to cool and here they are. Rather pleased with the way they have come up and I think they will look much better than the grey look. I also sprayed the back of the wheel adjusts with some alu look paint as they were looking rather tatty and cleaned up the internals ready to go back on. Ran both screws up and down the threads with some penatrating oil to get the chain grease out of the thread. Sunday I spent working on the Nursery so nothing else happened. Looking forward to Friday and Saturday when i can spend some more time on the bike fingers crossed finish getting the engine in and get the loom and rear wheel in. I have picked myself up a pot of Copper Grease now as well £7 from Halfords which I thought was good. Have decided to replace the Oil Seal clips on the front forks as mine are badly rusted and the can't cost more than about £1 each, then will put the Forks back together. Watch this space will all be happaning soon.
  3. Hey Dude Yeah that might be worth doing as after further inspection one of the rubers is perished and breaking up so will most likely fail the MOT. If you could chuck me the number would be spot on. Cheers.
  4. Well guys it has been a nice Easter Weekend with plenty of Sun. Plan was lots more to be done to the Bike. Friday : Not alot went on really only a spot of paint and a lower head stock bearing, No longer the rusty old mess that it was. Saturday : was spent sorting out the shed and I have now moved my Gran Fathers work bench into there with thanks to my friend Mike for the extra Muscle. Now using that as my base of operations. Its a little tight but it will do the job well. Sunday : After a massive roast at my parents one of my mates popped over with his CBR125 look a like, Ripped the exhaust off gave it a good clean and then a good coat of Black Temprature Paint, I really should have taken a Picture. Any Way after he nipped off I got on and did this Monday : This was just picture taking day as the Joy I'm sat in work right now. So all is going well at the moment, Before any one asks why I have put that heap of a damper back on its because I plan to put an Ohlins on later in the year but don't have £300 sat around at the moment so hoping that one will get me though the MOT and a couple of Months before I change it. Fingers crossed I will be sorting the Forks though the week and I now have a replacment Ignition with a key that I need to put into the top Yoke. Unforchanatly I am still awaiting Front Wheel Bearing Seals from Fowlers they should be in tomorrow. Ride Safe.
  5. Right well got the Sprocket Carrier done. Some black paint, new baring, new Spocket and lots of Greese later. I should have taken some pics of the wheels all disced up and ready to go for tyres as well but I forgot. Also now has new Seals as dose the rear wheel. Front Wheel bearing seals are still on order. Enjoy
  6. Sorry didn't realise I hadn't put the picks of how the engine is coming along up as well. Hear they be. Here the Inlet Manifolds have come off unforchanatly the rubbers had perished so possibale MOT failure was bidding on a set on e-bay, Was well gutted they went for £10. Any how job for my couple of days off is to strip down the carbs and give them a good clean out and will probably shove some Redex though once all is back together. New Spockets and Chain are with me as well so I can get the new front sprocket on before the engine goes back into the frame. Fingers crossed all the bearings will be done this weekend, Wheels will defanatly and rubber will be on them saturday too if all goes to plan which it normaly dosen't. I have got my self a new rear disc as the old one was cracked shame really the old one was almost new as are the front two so going to put the old front two back on with new pads. Currently checking out Alu and Stainless bolts for the Brake Discs/Calipers/engine. Has anyone got any thoughts on whats best?? I have been told not to use Stainless in the calipers because its quite brital and can shatter under preasure Enjoy
  7. Well its been a couple of weeks and unforchanalty due to my shift I haven't got a lot more done. Heres what has been going on Frame. Swing Arm and Wheels are back from Powder coating and some pics below and I have got about 95% of the paint off the engine covers so I can brush polish them and will have some pics as soon as they are done. Also now have all the bearings ready to go into the frame etc going to do the wheels first so I can get some rubber on them. Any how here is the pics of the frame etc. The Wheels are quite a bit darker in real life damn Flash... They are more the colour in the corner of the Rim. Really happy with how it has all come out though and the gent who did the work was a great bloke to deal with and would happily recommend him to others. I have been getting some work done to my website which has bigger pictures on it as well feel welcome to have a look and let me know what you think the address is www.psychosquish.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk
  8. Hi All Got some more work done to the Bike today. All the Bearings are out of everything and its already to go off for Powder Coating next week. Also done some more work to the Tank and started work on the Dials/Front Fairing Mount. Heres the Tanks after abit of Wier Brushing. In the Last pic you can still see some of the rust. Heres what it looks like today. Have used a Krust to get rid of most of the rust and then sprayed it in Hamerite Satin Black which really dose looke Nice in the Flesh. What I didn't realise at the point in time is the Hamerite alo has Krust in it so 99% of the rust has gone an down to Nice metal. Have just taken some Wet and Dry to it and taken off the top layer of paint and given it another Coat will have some more Pics soon. Here is just some Random pics of the Dial Mount rather rusted as you can see. Have given it a good go over with the wire Brush and coated it in Krust ready for a rub down. More Pics Soon. All Comments welcome as usual. Enjoy

Hi All As some of you are aware from my posts i'm currently rebuilding an FZR600 which is coming on rather nicely. Currently awaiting the frame back from Powder Coating. How ever I would like to put a nice new shiney set of Gauges on to it maybe have some funky stuff too. I have been told you can get speedos that the needle changes colour as you acclerate etc. Just wondering if anyone knew were to get them from. The major thing was I wanted to add a Fuel Gauge. The other bit is I'm considering Tyres as the Wheels should be back from powder coating in a week and I wanted peoples opnions on them I don't mind cost I just want quality and good traction with little road noise. I have always put Pirelli's on my cars as you get almost no road noise and lots of traction and they last for ages. Any suggestions please?? I have been suggested a pair of Avon Road Riders for £55 per wheel. Many Thanks. Enjoy.
  12. Well got alot more done over the last couple of weeks just haven't had time to get on here and update you guys. So here we go. About two weeks ago now I dropped the Enigne out and removed the Front and Back Wheels. Then Thursday just gone I got a little bit more done and got the Swing Arm and Damper off. All being well and good it should be going off for oil cleaning, sand blasting and powder coating at some stage this week. Just need to confirm with the shop on Monday. Enjoy.
  13. How did he do that there isn't even a road near by, by the look of it.

Undertaking isn't illegal I have even had a Police officer admit it to me, The Highway Code suggest that you should not undertake as its not safe but it is not a criminal offence and the highway code is always taken with a pinch of salt. I'm pretty sure if the police cought you giving it some punch to get out of someones blind spot they would have no objections as long as it was done safely. Enjoy

Afraid I can't agree with that. If I had a pound for every biker (when i have been on the Bike or in the Car) who I have seen sitting in a car drivers Blind Spot I would easily be a millionare, Rule of thumb never sit along side a car unless you really have to and then if you do make sure your far enough forward that they can't miss you. Back to the point I never go out with nothing less than a heavey set of Denims and my jacket on its just stupid you asking for trouble, I'm only 26 aswell so still a young one and I want to give them a good beating sometimes to be honest they are asking for what they get. Enjoy.
  16. Spot on dude. I would personally put some more decals on the side farings even if its just the Yamaha stickers at the bottom they look abit plain. Besides that looking great. Got the Engine out of mine on the weekend. Considering rebuilding it but not sure. Enjoy
  17. If your brakes are rusting then your not using the Bike enough. You may get a little surfice rust but braking will slowly ware this off. When I picked up my project bike the front two discs were coated in rust. Twice around a car park and nice and Shiny again.
  18. Hi All Done a little more work on the Bike yesterday. Evently got the rear hugger off its in a pretty bad state so might have to replace that one. also got the under try out and the wireing loom. Here be some more Pics. Next step is to finish removing the exhaust and then drop the engine off fingers crossed on Sunday. Thanks for the Advice on the hoses Stonesie I have picked myself up a copy of the Hanyes manual now so have been doing a compare the hoses session. Take it Easy all.
  19. Looking spot on. Nice converstion you have done to the back end. Was it almost a straght swap or did you have to chop the rear end??
  20. Hey All Been a nice day so thought I would have a bit more of a bash with the Bike Here are some pics from this morning when before I started. As you can see I have already started taking the vinyals off the Fairings which is proving to be harder than I thought but I have the terps to hand now and that has been making it alot easier. I want to get them sprayed as soon as possible so that the paint has plenty of time to harden before they go back on the bike. Now some pics from when I stopped this afternoon I have tried to take similar ones for comparison. So there we go, Brakes are off, Tank is out along with the Fuel Pump. Had some lovely sezed nuts that I'm going to have get the drill on, Some more of the electrics taken away aswell. Only real issue I had was when trying to take the fan off the Rad instead of the nut coming undone it started to twist the metal on the base of the Rad so looks like I might be looking for one soon. Hey Mad73 Will have a look at yours in amo I'm sure its coming along well. Not sure what bits i'm going to need yet and have the odd tarting up bit on order like a set of flush indicators and next month I will be ordering Goodridge Brake hoses. Makes sense to me. Another question to all. How diffrent is the coolant system on the FZR1000 Gen of the same year. Thinking about Silicone Hoses.... Enjoy

    Hi All

Hi All Signed up last night and had a good read before posting. Lots of nice looking info on here. Have all ready done a post in Pics as I'm currently stripping down an FZR600 Genises as a little project. Been riding for just over a year now on a Honda CG and passed my Direct Access at the Start of July. Enjoy
  22. Hi All I Recently purchased myself a FZR600 as a project bike to play around with. It is very taty at the moment and needs alot of work but that was the entire point. Any how here are some pics of when I bought it. As it stands in those Pics it needs Fork Seals and the Back Brack sorting out to get it though an MOT. I have started stripping it down already so its currently fairing less and most of the electrics have come out. Planning to take the coolant system of on Monday and maybe the brakes aswell then next weekend I'm going to drop the engine out and back wheel so the frame and swing arm are ready to go off to be sand blasted and powder coated in Matt Black. I will keep this thread up to date with pics of progress and how things are going. One question however dose anyone know if you can get a Gel Seat for one of these? I have had a hunt and can't find them. I'm expecting the answer to be no because of the age of the bike but hey its worth a try. All comments Welcome and Enjoy.
