  1. The manual just says return bike to dealer! But surely I can change the headlamp, does anyone know what type of bulb it takes and how much I have to dissemble to get to it. Cheers
  2. Problem solved, sorry for waste of post! I surpassed myself! There were two spade lugs on the brake lever and both had come off under the rubber grommet!
  3. Guys, Just a quickie, I'm relatively new to biking, started riding on the road last year and not a great mechanic either! I've noticed today that my brake light is not working on either front or back brake operation, It looks as if its stuck on, is there anything obvious I should be looking for? Before I dive in blind folded??
  4. Thanks for the reply's both, I am just looking for some for weather protection. Last week my hands were absolutely freezing even with cold killers under my gloves! I use the bike every day in all weathers so though they might deflect the wind a bit! I guess the aftermarket ones might be best, they look easy ish to fit providing the cables arent in the way as mentioned!
  5. Heres a link to the item on Ebay but can take some better pictures tonight if need be... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...E:X:RTQ:GB:1123
  6. I've picked up some Yamaha XT125 Hand Guards from a breakers and although I'm assured they are for the XT125 I cant see how they would fit! Does anybody have: 1) Fitting instructions / help? 2) Any recommended alternatives if these are the wrong ones! Many thanks
  7. Two questions really, my 57 plate XT125R is serving me well but as I commute daily on it all year round I'd like to get some of those toasty heated grips! Am I right in thinking the XT125 will have a smaller battery and might not cope with them? So anybody fitted them and also what make/model is recommended? Second question, as many people have commented on here, the headlight is pants. Is it upgradable to one of these hid type things? Or again am I risking the battery going 'I've had enough, I cant do this anymore!' ?
  8. Anybody use one of those automatic chain lube things? And if so are they any good?
  9. Many thanks for that advice, are they universally fitting?
  10. My trusty old fitness first rucksack (must be 3 years old, so not bad for a freebie) failed me this morning and the one strap is completely buggered. It hasnt been bad in all fairness, keeps stuff dry too which has been important. So I need a new method of carrying important* stuff into the office on my daily commute. So do I buy another rucksack, but this time a 'proper' bike rucksack? Or Do I try and get something fixed to the bike, the problem might be that its an XT125R and I dont know what I can fit to the bike. Will a tank bag fit it as its a plastic tank isnt it? Or do I go for one of these universal top boxes for the back? All help appreciated from you experienced bikers! *Important stuff refers to lunch box!
  11. Great thanks very much for the advice, glad I've had this advice now too. Fingers crossed I'll be able to do my best to avoid the wreckless car drivers!
  12. Cool, very nice bike. One day maybe! I've been constantly warned about car drivers all week, lots of people beginning to worry since I said I was buying a bike! Apparently they just dont give a stuff about bikers?! Hope I dont find out!
  13. Lol, thanks for the sound advice gents. After much consideration and look/feel tests I opted for 2007 Yahama XT125R, got to resit my CBT next Thursday when I pick the bike up as CBT has expired. Thinking of doing DAS on 125 to get my restricted licence quickly and maybe move on up in 2 years time. I really fancied the Honda but couldnt justify the 3.5k on a 125. I guess I'll be on here alot more asking for advice and stupid questions!
  14. I've ridden bikes for most of my life but never on road, well apart from a Jincheng Monkey Bike (Dont laugh) I've just got rid of a Yammy Quad and as I work in the centre of Cardiff I feel the only way forward is to buy a bike, I've looked into everything and its going to be a 125 but i'm 6'3" and I need something beefy size wise. I dont want to go fast as the traffic is mental and its all 30mph limits on my route anyway, i've looked at what I think is everything and I'm swaying towards an XT125R as it seems the beefiest and nicest looking bike I can get, it also doesnt look too small for a 125. Anybody else a bit on the lofty side got one of these bikes??
  15. Cheers Darren. I dont know why but I always thought you could ride a 125 on a car licence. Guess thats just 50cc's then! £15 a year road tax, how cool is that!
