  1. hi, the lights run off the dyno, but all the other elecs run off the battery. try the horn with the engine running. if thatdoesnt work then it will be the battery, stick a multimeter on it to check the voltage, should be just over 7 volts even tho its only a 6volt battery. if that is fine, then you will be at the stage i am at.... fiddle with the wires in the headlight ir the main wireing loom as it passes under the horn. ( i got mine cable tied in a position that keeps it all working) you can tell if it is the wires by moving them about and keep an eye on your warning lights on the dash (neutral/ oil lights) if the flicker and go dim or off, just find a way of holding the wires or loom in a possition that keeps the warning lights at their brightest and you should find your indicators and horn work. i am at that point with my bike at the moment just got to keep going untill my week off at easter when i will have time to get it stripped and sorted for good!!!
  2. could be your throttle stop adjustment and the weather. just under the choke lever, there should be a small knurled knob that can be turned by hand (could be brass coloured as i dont know what colour mine is due to road crud) i am forever adjusting it as the cold weather affects the running of the 2-stroke engine at idle. turn clockwise to increase revs at idle with the choke off. if the engine revs too much at idle when you stop, just turn anti clockwise till they drop as low as you need without stalling the engine. i am constantly adjusting it with the cold weather as i use it daily all weathers and should run fine when it warms up in summer!!!! hope that helps
  3. ?????????????????????????????????????????
  4. i heard there is something to do with keeping the heat in the exhaust so the gases escape quicker, but i aint to sure about benefits or drawbacks
  5. does anyone know the real pros and cons of using exhaust wrap as a performance upgrade???
  6. i have seen a picture of an RXS100 with a full rickman fairing in it and looked nice. any ideas where to get them from and which size i would be looking for...oh and how hard would they be to fit???
  7. i have an 88E reg RXS100 and wondering how to derestrict it as i have heard that you can get up to 17bhp out of it rather than just 12bhp but no one seems to know how???
  8. i had to take my exhaust of my E reg RXS100 in order to remove the baffle to clean which had become stuck. when i was replacing the exhaust, a small metal object fell out at the down pipe end of the exhaust. the only way to describe it is like a piece of metal rod about 10mm long and about 7mm thick and i dont have a clue what it could be for or if i will damage the engine/exhaust running it without it in place. any ideas anyone????? would it be some sort of restrictor and i have inadvertantly deristricted it???
  9. hi, those speeds you quoted that you can get are about right. i get about 67 max tucked in behind a car, but i have had 72 out of it down hill with the engine screaming.....dont try it as the bike felt like it was about to fall apart or explode
  10. i have an E-reg RX-S and with the cold weather arriving, a problem has arrived. it starts fine but when it has warmed up, it wants to die when i come to a stop and have to hold some revs on the counter. it feels like the choke has been left on but i turn it off before i set off. would there be a fault with the choke or maybe a new air filter or does it just not like winter time??? thanks to anyone that can help as i use the bike every day to get to work.
  11. i have an 88 RX-S with a big dent in the fuel tank and have found a nice shiney tank off a 93 RX-S. do both bikes have the same tank and fit easy on my bike?? cheers
  12. i have an 88 RXS100 with a 6v battery. everything worked fine, then i took the oil tank out to give it a clean and when it was all put back together again the indicators wont work. is it just crappy electrics or are there any wires assosiated with the indicators running near the oil tank that i could have caught or damaged while working??? all other lights, horn and instruments work fine!!!! HELP
  13. hi, sorted it. bought some new oil and that seems to have done the trick cheers guys
