  1. Problem solved. Lets just put it down to ….slow down and check your work. While I did replace the vacuum line/tube...I did not check the tank part of the connection. I was about to go nutty when, after put it back in one end...the other came out. Neither had a clip or retainer. Done now. Gee, I can hardly wait for the next fun test of what I do not know about this bike. I thought after messing with the Royal Enfield for 5 years I could handle most problems. I suppose if it were all easy it would lose some of the fun factor. That does not mean I need to break down in the middle of nowhere to enjoy riding them. Thanks to all!!! -chuck

  2. I've bought an 'unfinished project' as building one from scratch was going to take too long despite my having collected most of the parts... I might start that after this one if I still have the will to live. I've got engine work to do. Have done one side, fitted side case and auto lube which was missing when I got it. On the flywheel side the stator wiring is missing a plug and I really dont want to cut the new loom so it's flywheel off to get to the stator. Flywheel came off easily and obviously wasn't torqued up. Then when I took the stator off the screws were barely hand tight, every single casing screw is loose with many of the heads chewed. Thankfully I have a set of new casing screws for it. Got me worried what the inside of the engine is like though as it's obviously been apart... That's how the stator was fitted, there's a line on the stator plate and engine casing. Am assuming they're timing marks? They weren't even lined up. So glad I haven't tried to start this without doing much to it. Onwards to victory...

  4. we've all been there. I spent 6 months tracking an ignition fault, tested within parameters but 1 wire failed under load. there's a long thread in the site somewhere.

  5. Just purchased a US import LS2 100. Beautiful bike, just missing history. I wondered if anyone could shed some light on production numbers and such of these 1972 models. Any info would be appreciated. Also, wondering if anyone knows this particular example. VIN: LS2005633 Thank you for your help in advance. best, Jack
