  1. Good News!!! I fitted new front and rear sprockets and a new chain and it now runs a lot smoother and quieter. Rear wheel must of been well out also. All adjusted and aligned correctly and ride perfectly. Thanks for the advice chaps

  3. Needed a long range bike for awhile now. Never liked the Yamaha large 4T bikes, always preferred the Honda. Considered the CB750F or CB900F series but then this came up less than a mile from my house..so took the plunge. 1982 CBX1000 Prolink. Another icon from the late seventies and early eighties. Not as desirable as the earlier 79 model yet but think will get there as it has some rather big improvements. Don`t like the custom sprayjob..wud like to get it back to original silver/grey colour. Never seen one with gold rims. It has had a wider rim conversion to take a 160 tyre (which I think suits it). And has a beautiful sounding 6 into 6 exhaust. Only issue..2 of the carbs pilot jets blocked as it stood 14months..so having to ride on the choke at low speeds and wont idle.

  8. Harry, engineering is the same on bikes and cars, you can stamp your own book if you have to, the book is only there to tell the next owner that the servicing was done on time, as you work on vehicles anyway your more then aware what needs doing and to be honest when I service my bike I do it right cos I'm the one riding it. Keep all of your bills for parts and such cos they count for a lot as well to the next owner, a full service history is great but not when the people who do it are right toss pots.

  9. I'd email Yamaha Customer Service, explain what happened and what you were told and ask them to clarify if that is a. accurate (washing your bike can cause engine management lights to flash) and b. whether it's normal for Yamaha Dealers to say you need to pay for it before they've even looked at it? You may wish to say you're surprised that your bike getting wet can cause this issue, given Yamaha's excellent reputation for build quality and now you're worried that if your bike is caught in the rain you may end up stranded somewhere. I'm sure they'll tell you washing your bike/riding in the rain will not damage it, and you'll have that email for future reference.

  13. Just wanted to say a very quick thanks to Lee at Bikesure. Got my renewal through, and after a quick chat with Lee, I'm now moving over to Bikesure. Very quick, easy and friendly service. Painlessly done and dusted within minutes. Thanks also to Alex for arranging the Owners Club / Bikesure relationship.
