Hello all, can anyone give me a definitive answer to these questions? I have just bought a 1979 SR500,it came from S Africa in 1996,it has never been registered in the UK,I have the S African Logbook and a customs release form,I have spoken to DVLA but came away no wiser!apart from that I will be able to get an age related plate. As it is 30 years old do I need to get it (1) SVA'd or will an MOT be OK? (2) Will it require Type approval if so how do I get it? (3) What customs forms will I need if any? I have looked at the VOSA,C&E and DVLA websites, but they all give ambigious information! Thanks for any information (am pulling out what little hair I have left) …

Spotted a bike for sale locally that looked good in the pics & description raised no problems. Seller stated it had been bought as a track bike but had never been used as such. Was really well priced so I enquired why it wasn't for road use, seller replied saying it was a US import & had never been registered etc. Surely couldn't be hard to get it registered & through an mot? Anyone got experience in this area?

Hey guys - I've taken the opportunity to go camping this weekend - first time with the F800GT. Absolutely loving the fact it has luggage (compared with my Street Triple). Left Surrey this morning and took the minor roads up to a regular campsite of mine near Buxton. Weather is holding out so far. I've not had the greatest start to 2017 - so quite frankly it's just nice to chill at a campsite today, but tomorrow I'll head off for a bimble around and about (so any of my lovely Mancunian-based buddies feel free to give me a shout!). The bike is performing well so far - I was able to pack for a somewhat luxurious camping trip (chair, walking gear, all my food/drink …

Hi all I was wondering what mods could be done to a bike (in my case an XVS 125) to increase its visibility? i.e, make it less likely that other drivers do not see it by by night and/or day. Please no "paint it fluorescent pink", "add huge laser beams..." jokes. I'm thinking mainly of spotlights (shame neon lights are not legal), cool looking reflectors and such.

In Ireland, during this Weather, its safer not to go riding. The weather is one thing, but the tiny roads are another. I have fallen off so many times during the winter, it was nearly becoming part of my Christmas Cheer. Broke my Collar Bone 2 years ago and I was only going about 20KM. Spent Christmas in a bad way.....

i just bought my first bike. it a 1979 yamaha xs1100 special. i figured out how to ride it, and mechanicly seems sound. im a do it yourself'er and consider myself inclined with a wrench.....electricity on the other hand, i have a hard time grasping. and with electricity lies my issue. the bikes tail/break light works but rear signals, front signals,low/high head light, speedometer, and rpm gauge to not fuction. fuses are all fine. cables all connected. no open links to my eye. ive been chasing wires for about a week now pokeing with that "light up" tool to see if theres current. and yes ive been using a wiring diagram, but like i said i suck with electricity. PLEASE …

I went to see it today and for a 10 year old bike, it was in pretty good shape. However, I have a few questions about road legality. It comes with front/rear lights, a horn and an odometer. Which is in the list of requirements to make a bike road legal. 1) The bike does not come with a speedometer. It's not required to pass an MOT but you must have one to be road legal. I read that cheap push-bike speedometers are acceptable, any truth in this? Also, any recommendations for cheap speedometers? 2) It has one of those small flexible number plates fitted. I think it might be a 6 x 4, not too sure. Would this still be illegal on the road for an enduro? I saw a vid…

I own a 2001 Yamaha XVS 125 Dragstar. She runs like a dream and is the most comfortable riding position for me. But I stuggle with poor performance in initial take off/ lift. I have already changed the front sprocket to one tooth less, but have found no difference. Does anyone know if there are restrictors fitted or of any other ideas to try to give the bike a boost?
